Such a tragedy. There are so many human beings in our world just reaching out for help and not getting it. This young man who did the shootings and then killed himself had some very serious issues. Why wasn't he helped prior to this incident. We have to start paying attention and listening to people, even those we don't know. If left alone with no communication, no touch, or no acknowledgment of serious proportion, a human being can and will get depressed. Left to their own inner thoughts with no outlet, tragedy is sure to happen. Whether like what happened today at VA Tech or just suicide, (not harming anyone else), it is our responsibility to take care of each other. We need to stop categorizing people because we don't like how they look, speak, dress, the color of their skin, how smart they are, (or aren't). Please take heed to this or more incidents like this will happen.

I watched the news clip on CNN and it really shocked me to know that the numbers have doubled since 7:30 a.m. This is very sad I'm also a student a local college in my neighborhood and it would really affect me if something like this happen at my school. I had a hands- on -experience with the mother of the daughter of the Columbine High incident and it has made me realize that I am very fortunate to understand the pain and agony that she and the other families had to endure. I am very, very, very grateful that was not me some years ago. There were somethings things I didn't agree with President Bush in due time until now when he quote, quote said , " School should be a place to learn not for violence." In my opinion I don't think anywhere is safe unless people stand forth and can make it safe. I think education is so important when dealing with school; its how the world lives and functions. I think this world is coming to an end and many people don't realize that. Schools need to enforce laws and set grounds and standards for students and facilities. They need to be prepare for the unexpected and the expected. You never know what can happen and at what given time. I'm going to finish my education, but I will have Jesus by my side when perusing it. The increase in school shootings is crazy especially what happened today. When the frist shooting occurred students needed to be evacuated then not later after the second shooting begun. My deepest prayers and sincerity goes to the families and victims of Virgina Tech University incident.

I just do not understand how one person in this day and time can carry out so many killings. Especially at a major US university. University police are trained like state police, so they should have been on this guy quicker. How do you shoot 60+ people over 3 hours with two 9mm and not get taken down after 5 or 10. I guess over the next few days the facts will start to come down and we will learn. This sick person will become forever immortalized along with Columbine and the University of Texas killers.

Sad and disgusted. It reminds me of the Columbine shootings and the Texas University shootings, and so many others. As long as people are free to own guns, there's always going to be extreme nut cases like these. Not much different from a suicide bomber wanting to take as many with him before he dies. Obviously, this particular shooter had factored in his own death. Someone that is prepared to die can do an awfult lot of atrocity simply because they have nothing to lose. This is why we still need the antiquated control system of religion, to at least control some people like that of like mind. It's a darn shame that we do, but we do.

Concerned for our millions of poor kids who go to school everyday thinking about stuff like this; angry that someone could be so distraught to do such a heinous crime; heartbroken for the families. What about it America...thoughts on gun control, greater access to mental health care, less glamorization of violence in Hollywood? We as a society have a voice.

It is just such a tragedy. It is so sad that some crazy fool could go in there and tear apart so many innocent lives. I feel so bad for all involved. They are in much need of prayer.

I am frusterated, and partly because I don't know the background and motives of the shooter.
I think that online courses are going to skyrocket in the near future as students stay home at their computers.

Numb.
My opinion is that I would be very surprised if they were not on some kind of SSRI drug that causes mania (the side affect of plotting the deaths of others).
See http://www.breggin.com
There hasn't been one single school massacre shooting where the kid wans't on some kind of SSRI like Paxil. The FBI did their best to cover that fact up.

How can people do this to each other? People are joking about it when 33 people are dead 33 families are without a loved one. It is not funny and yet people are joking and playing around with such a tragedy.
