Does it really matter who of what race commited this crime?
All it matters is we are deeply sadden my this news.
Are we going to be racist over this?
I hope not, and I mourn the losses with tears.

While the entire day was a tragedy for everyone, the race of the person is not as important as who he may have connections to, if any. It will be fortunate if the killer was acting alone and had his own axe to grind. I'm sure as the investigation continues, more details will come out.
I don't think this will become a race issue. Most people believe there are good and bad in any race. The media just likes to blow things out of proportion for ratings sake.
We still haven't learned the race of those who were murdered. My prayers will be for those who have yet to learn that their loved one has passed on.

No, it absolutely does not matter-- southern Korean, black or even Muslim-wouldn't make a difference. The PERSON who did this was the epitome of evil--lack of goodness all around. That type of person is found in every race or ethnic group.
I personally gave it no thought when it was announced that he was Asian American. It wasn't until the head of the Southern Korean Government sent his condolences and made a statement that said he hoped this would not become a prejudicial matter against his countrymen that I even entertained the idea. I don't think most people thought much about his nationality until then.

The ethnicity of the shooter matters as much as saying that it was a man or a woman...a teenager or an elder...etc. The demographics of who did it is a descriptor. It makes the person more real and not some amorphous monster. Obviously, we want to know more than this, but it is a start in trying to understand the mind of a person who would do such a horrible thing.

Not really. Only as an identifying characteristic of the individual. What is important is why did he do such a thing and could we have done things differently to avoid him reaching the point of murderous intent. I don't think we should look at his ramblings as that of a madman but rather of things we need to look at in our society before we push more people over the edge and suffer the very tragic consequences.

I don't think the race matters in terms of anything except identification of the shooter. Since they have not identified him, there have been reports that he might be of Asian descent. I think this is to help figure out who the guy was.
I don't see how racism is involved in trying to ID the shooter. Race is an identifying characteristic, and since the dude's face is blown off and he was carrying no ID, it's one way to help figure out who he was. Perhaps someone in the general public will be able to help identify the person in this way.

In the end it doesn't matter, a bad evil person is a bad evil person regardless of his race, but you can bet that if it's a person that isn't Aisian, Muslim, or Black, the media is gonna make a bigger deal about it. If they made a big deal and the shooter was Aisian, Muslim, or Black, they'd be accused of being politically incorrect. Pretty dumb, huh?

now im going to say something that may be useful ... if he was white, he would have been known as just another killer..if he was black he would have been classified as a gang member, if he was arab or muslim he would have been classified as terrorist...now whatever it is or whatever you think..whatever you are going to think such as when 9/11 occured u may have thought that every arab is weird or you look at them differently dont lie you do..now this man was asian that commited this terrible crime....assume what you want..looks arent going to change at these people..this didnt really make much sense..and i just think that america is not doing well with whatever they're doing...mabe if this kids parents beat him when he was younger he wouldnt do this who knows..a mind can be messed up..you may have had bad thoughts in your mind at least once and you try to erase them hoping you will never think of them again...all I know is that this guy is a piece of ****...

i agree with you. it should not matter the race of the shooter or the victims. it should only matter that there was a shooter and too many victims. i deeply admire your sympathy for this tradegy, and hope that everyone in the world has a heart like yours.

I totally understand what your saying. I don't think it should matter that the shooter was Asian. People that make a big deal over that minor detail of the massacre are just being stupid.

It doesn't matter the nationality, but it will play a big role in what will happen in the upcoming months involving the security surrounding schools.
