Because the stupid American LAWS allow even an idiot to have access to fire arms.
The NRL needs to be held responsible for this.
Some people should sue those bastards and the Government they control.
It is time to take fire arms out of the hands of civilians, and get rid of the constitutional excuse.
This isn't the wild wild west anymore
GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, unfortunately, not everyone in this world knows the difference between right and wrong. Want to know the sad thing though? When I heard about this, I barely even flinched...maybe I just feel like we are being bombarded with bad news almost every single day. I'm not saying that my sympathy doesn't go out to the community, family and friends. I'm just saying that this world has seemed to turn upside down. America is no longer as free of a country as it used to be, we are still at war, celebrities have gone crazy, this shooting and many other things as well. Maybe if VT didn't ignore their bomb threats, this could have been prevented. However, everything happens for a reason. I'm not sure what this reason is...maybe it's to teach a lesson to someone out there in the world.

A prayer for the dying is all we can do right now. There will be answers soon. Then it will be time to correct this societal sickness. The guy that did this is burning in an eternal hell now. But there will be lot's of questions, most of which will be directed at Steger and the schools security. Jesus, what a shame..............

According to who? The press? The press will tell you it is because of "violent video games" and music. They'll try to decipher it to some psychological extent. The fact is that some people are just crazy and no matter what games or music they play, things like this will happen.

Why the shooting? Because it was the shooter's belief that killing them and himself is the only way to express how he was feeling at the time. He felt no way out of his situation and it ended it this desperate act of violence. He is a coward if you ask me. It must've made him feel like such a big man to shoot innocent people who could not defend themselves.

There are some freakin' crazy people out there. Fortunately there are alot more normal people than crazies. When some nut case goes off like this, it makes national headlines. But when millions of normal people go to class, study hard, get good grades, graduate and get a good job... you never hear about that on the news.

I heard it was a student who broke up w/his girlfriend and a fellow male student died trying to protect her. It was horrible and I am at a loss as to why this idiot had to kill so many people and wound others before turning the gun on himself. I am a non-traditional University student and this hits close to home for me. University campuses are not at all secure and I just hope and pray that this doesen't happen again.

More then likely- because the person that did the killing wasn't loved, didn't get any respect, or help with issues he'd tried to get help with.

People that knew him/her are more to blame for this then he was, course that doesn't stop me from thinking he'd roosting in hell right now.

The rampage was planned. The shooter was heavily armed with two handguns a 9mm and a 22 and plenty of ammo plus a vest.
What caused his meltdown? It was likely a combination of:
o-- cultural shock (he was a foreign student from Shanghai)
o-- romantic bollux (was she his "girlfriend" how long had they been involved) and
o-- poor grades (an Oriental student usually focuses on studying, studying, studying and for leisure activity sleeping).

It is a horrible, horrible tragedy but in time, it will fade from public view. Only those who have suffered a personal loss will be faced with the struggle to overcome their grief and restructure their life.

Security guards can only provide a "sense" of security. They cannot provide virtual security. The objective of the security guard is to take control of the situation, keep people calm, stop panic.

After the reports have been filed, the investigations have been completed and the recommendations made, people will calm down and feel secure, then complacent.

Because of my personal experience, I favor allowing individuals to carry concealed weapons if they have had training and have not had a felony conviction. Most of the people in the self-help group Parents of Murdered Children have strong feelings about this issue as well as Citizens against Homicide. (Members of both national groups have suffered the loss of a loved one to homicide) Compassionate Friends is also a self-help group however it is for parents who have lost a child to any cause homicide, accidental death or disease.

People in these organizations spend a lot of time writing letters to parole boards, and getting legislation passed like Michigan's "truth in sentencing" and sentencing guidelines" (despite the fiscal impact).

It would be very nice if all the murderers, rapists, child molestors and other gun-toting sickos could be locked up...... or maybe even hanged, drawn and quartered for some.

The justice system and law enforcement can only do so much. The ATF can only seize so many weapons from the predators.

The reason I favor responsible citizens being educated in safe gun use is for protection. They will not be the ones using the guns to commit a crime or kill an innocent.

On April 20, 999 at the Columbine High School shooting 22 students were killed.

So far 33 have been confirmed dead at the shootings at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University — (located in the western end of the state near the borders of West Virginia and Tennessee). It has been called the worst mass shooting in modern American history. The shootings began in the Ambler Johnston Hall dormitory at 7:15 a.m. Eyewitnesses described the gunman as an Asian male about 6 feet tall. He apparently shot himself in the head after the killings; part of his face was missing when his body was found.

He was said to have quarrelled in a dormitory with his girlfriend, whom he believed had been seeing another man. A student adviser was called to sort out the row. But the killer produced a gun and shot dead both his girlfriend and the adviser.

The second shooting was at Norris Hall. Two hours later he rampaged through an engineering building on the other side of the campus in the town of Blacksburg, killing indiscriminately.

The gunman has been identified as a Chinese man who arrived in the United States last year on a student visa. The 24-year-old man arrived in San Francisco on United Airlines on Aug. 7 on a visa issued in Shanghai

The shooter wore bluejeans, a blue jacket and a vest holding ammunition, witnesses said. He carried a 9mm semiautomatic and a .22-caliber handgun, both with the serial numbers obliterated, federal law enforcement officials said. Witnesses described the shooter as a young man of Asian descent -- a silent killer who was calm and showed no expression as he pursued and shot his victims. He killed himself as police closed in.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/16/AR2007041600533_pf.html

He had ammunition strapped across his chest as he calmly walked from room to room refilling his two 9mm handguns as he shot students.

He locked the doors of several classrooms to stop anyone escaping. Some terrified students jumped for their lives from fourthfloor windows, while others used desks to barricade doors.

The number of dead is almost twice as high as the previous record for a mass shooting on an American college campus. That took place at the University of Texas at Austin on Aug. 1, 1966, when a gunman named Charles Whitman opened fire from the 28th floor of a campus tower. Whitman killed 16 and injured 31.

The shooter is the ***ONLY*** one responsible for the deaths.

It is difficult to emotionally process such a horrible event. Sometimes people react in stages such as denial, anger and blaming. This is a normal chain of reaction to tragedy towards the acceptance of the event.

You'll have to ask the little Chinese punk who was doing the shooting. Or, wait for the news hounds to tell you.
