Why would this idiot blame such a tragedy on videogames even though they hadn't identified the shooter yet?
Does he use public tragedies to push his own agenda?
What should be his punishment for making such ignorant, baseless claims, and trying to play on people's pains?

As a gamer, I am aggravated that he would oversimplify such a tragedy: "Oh, the shooter played video games. Video games are violent. Videogames killed everybody in VaTech."

They didn't identify the killer yet! What should we do about this douchebag who only has his own agenda in mind?

Thompson right now is sweating being asked to leave his lofty high paying position; one evidenty he's NOT qualified to have. Thompson also may be worried about Civil suits due to the lack of aggressive protective action on campus; and he well may have worries forthcomming. His lawyer(s) best get ready.

This is the banal red flag sign of a INEPT administrator; blame EVERYTHING when YOU screw up!!! It's lame and pathetic....but it happens all too much.

Police DO know the killer's name. Logical possibilities the "person of interest" may be an accomplice. It does seem to suggest TWO (maybe more) shooters or rigging crew were involved. Under investigation--dead killer's name won't be released just yet.

There is research to support that video games desensitize a person to violence. There is some truth to that premise. However, people who cross the line from shooting baddies on a game to taking a 9mm a 22 clips of ammo and protected with a vest to school to shoot his girlfriend and as many people as possible who are misfortunate enough to cross his path...... well that goes beyond video games.

What should you do??? You can write a grant to study the beneficial effects of venting and redirecting anger in a positive pro-active way by the therapeutic use of video games. If you have a Ph.D you can get funding for the study and then you can publish it in journals and present your statistics at meetings and debate Jack.

Otherwise, you can do nothing.

I play video games, I never killed anyone. My fav. game now is GOW (lots of killing). Ppl who blame video games, music, movies are idiots. I listen to violent music and watch violent movies still never killed anyone. Obviously the kid a v-tech had some mental issues. He should have been in a mental ward or just committed suicide. Doesn't matter to me as long as innocent ppl don't die or get hurt.
