I have no idea how it happened, one day I opened a cake mix and I found nasty webbed mess and 2 tiny moths. That was 1 year ago and now they have taken over my kitchen. =(

I read that, if you see moths flying around your kitchen, you already have a massive infestation. I got rif of everything boxed and bagged, put clear plastic toes for new boxed foods. I thought that would do it,.........uh,.......WRONG!

I have gotten to the point that I have a large ice chest I use to put a few boxed things in. That really sucks. They are still flying around the kitchen. I never have the things I need, since I only buy what will fit in the ice chest. I have thrown away several hundred dollars worth of food in the last year. We are very low income,...it's killing us finacially.

The hose is very old with lots of nooks and cranys.Do I torch the kichen? LOL Just joking!

What can I do to get rid of them for good? I need my kitchen back!

Even if I haven't had any fruit in the house for weeks and have seen no fruit flies at all, if I bring home some various fruits and put them in a bowl on the table, the next morning I have fruit flies. Can I cover them with a glass cover or will that trap too much moisture? Is there a screen type cover on the market?

Not the automatic vaccum cleaner thing. But the net you use to clean bugs out of your pool. Is there an actual name for that?

I live in a basement apartment...and the earwigs are horrible. Plus my kids are terrified of them and run screaming from them. Does anyone know of an effective and SAFE homemade earwig killer or anything to help with them at the very least. Something with out bleach too..so I can spray along the walls with carpeting.

The previous owner of my house didn't put the cover on until AFTER the fall. I have all these leaves and it's really a headache. I've vacuumed and scooped for 2 hours everyday for the last two weeks and there are still leaves. Any advise would be appreciated.

Wahhh. I've got a gnat infestation (feel worse for the neighbor though who seems to have thousands of them hovering in his yard.) They like the bathrooms and kitchen the most but also go to other areas and are almost at the point of almost attacking me (they hover in front of my face and when I try to swat, I usually miss and I think they are really waiting for me to turn my back so they can contaminate my food after flying from being who knows where else). My husband fixed the pipe works so I don't think they're coming from there. We also have other insects such as earwigs or something similar, various species of spiders, the occasional roaches, various species of flies and beetles, and some other bugs that I haven't named yet, and I'm concerned that if I go natural, the remedies may cancel each other out or draw in more little beasties.
Do foggers work in a large room that's probably, let's just say 800 square ft? Short of professionals, any other suggestions?

I live in Ohio where the temperature has been in the mid to upper 80's recently. When I get home from work, I turn on the air conditioner to 74 degrees for about 1 hour, then I turn it off. I work with kids all day and really need to cool down when I first get home.

My roommate says it costs a lot of money to turn the A/C on and off, but I feel that is if I'm leaving it on to cool to a low temperature, turning it off till it's hot again, then turning it back on. Either in dollars or a percentage, how is turning on the A/C for an hour or so per day likely to change my electric bill?

The house has two stories and a basement. Five small bedrooms altogether. It's an older house, probably from the early 20th century.

I have lots of old high school/chidhood pictures & albums, yearbooks, extra binders & folders, a couple expensive textbooks with very good material I would like to reference on, old cds, alot of makeup samples thats really good, a couple piggy banks, shoe boxes to make it easier to move when if I do, & alot of old clothes -- mostly keep because I dont have much $ to buy new ones, which clothes to keep tho & shoes?

The more details the better the advice! thanks!!

We had a mother skunk move under our patio and have her babies. They are now old enough to venture out. One even fell into the window wells and had to be removed by animal control. We put the young one back with the mother and now need to remove all of them.

Ok, this is weird. I owned a Hoover carpet cleaner for many years and NEVER had this happen.
This was given to me as a gift (Bissell Pro Heat), yes a gift, and I use the recommended solution for it, and even used the Walmart Brand solution too. I have a beige carpet and most of the times when the carpet dries, there are light brown spots.
They are horrible looking and when I go over it, again, it gets worst.
I have used cold water in the machine and not using the heat, and I've used the hot water, and still spots appear.
Why is this?
Anyone else out there had this problem?

We dont have money to re-carpet right now, and there is old brown carpet in the living room. Its in good condition, just not my favorite look. Is there anything I can do to improve the look of the carpet besides buying an area rug or putting in new carpet? Any tips?
