I asked a question about growing root ginger from root ginger a couple of days ago ....... I can't find it or any answers that may have been posted?

I have a cluster of 3 "dragon trees" in a pot. They have long green leaves with red striped on the edges of the leaves.

I recently watered it heavily and gave it a lot of sun. A few days later, all the leaves on the bottom 5 inches of the plants died and came off, but the rest of the plant looks fine. The plants are about 4 feet tall.

Did I cause this by watering it? What happened?

I've just got an open fire place, grate & fret, and almost ready to get cracking with putting on a log and watching the embers glow.

My "Man Tools" are poised ready to go...but;

What's the best way to get them most of my open fire?
Should I stick with logs, or coal, or both?
How do I maximise this fireplace feature?
What tips would you recommend?

Remember, I am a man. None of this airy fairy rubbish, I want "fire". But I also want an economical fuel based heating system, and aim to avoid putting the central heating on again to warm my lounge!

I am extremely fearful of spiders. I have tried to get past my fears but I can't, the only spiders I tolerate are daddy long legs, and anything else literally terrifies me. If I see a spider I either throw a book at it to smush it (sorry, I cannot stand them) or I vacuum it up, but I'll end up staying awake all night with the lights on because I am so frightened of them. I don't care where they live outside, but when they get in my house I just freak out so I was wondering, is there any sort of repellant, either a chemical spray or something existing in nature that wouldn't be toxic that spiders hate and that would keep them away? I know this sounds a bit hysterical, but I have a phobia of them and I just would feel safer if I could keep them out. I know very little about pest control so I don't know if there is any sort of spray available or not. Any ideas on what I can do to keep them out of my home? Or at least to try to keep them out? Thanks. :)

can you paint cermic floor tiles? if so, how?
I cant afford to replace my kitchen tiles and my husband says they can not be painted. I am wanting to paint them to look like slate.(taracuda, black brown, color mix, etc) can it be done?

i recently spotted 3 grayish brownish tiny flea looking things in the house. they also jump. please help. what should we do? my sister is 4 so we dont want to use chemicals or anything. we also have carpet which might add to the problem. please help!

My house is sort of old and a few weeks ago something dropped in our front closet and hit the back of our wall, we realized that the wall sounded hallow. We did a little exploring and realized that there would have to be an open room behind the wall. So far we have only hammered a fairly small hole but it is obvious that there is another room back there. I was wondering if this is cool, or weird, or if something like this has happend to anyone else.

We have several plants out in our woods. they have had plenty of fertiler as this was where the cattle romed when we had them about five years ago. the bushes are healthy just don't produce.

I have noticed that in my house when the weather starts to warm up I keep getting bitten, I have had this problem since I moved in nearly 2 years ago, I am very particular about cleaning my house and keeping everywhere clean so I thought maybe it was beause the tenants before me had an animal and possibly it was fleas so I have used a steam cleaner and done the whole house on quite a few occasions but it is still happening.

Does anyone have any ideas what it is and how I can resolve this problem please

2 weeks ago my landlord sprayed the garden with Roundup. Now several of the my plants are either dead or dying. One tomato plant has a tomato ready to eat, but I am nervous about serving it to the family. The plant looks pretty bad. The leaves are yellow and the main stalk is gray and shriveled. Any ideas? OK, so I am moving in about a month. I have lived in the same apartment for five years, and have collected a lot of "stuff."
