I recently had moved into a house that was vacant for awhile and was infested with fleas... I bought a 12lb bag of baking soda/1lb box of iodiozed salt mixed it together and sprinkled it liberally on the rug and let it sit.. The house was empty so I let it sit for a week... I also, fogged the house with Raid brand foggers and then vacuumed and aired out the house.. Just remember to throw away the vacuum bag... I have a bagless so I left it open in the house when I fogged.. The baking soda/salt smothered them and dissolved the eggs/larve... I haven't had a problem since.. Plus the baking soda took the cigarette smell out of the carpets... I check every once in awhile by placing a desk lamp with a white bowl with water with a bit of dish soap in it... If there are signs of life in the water in the morning I repeat process... Good luck...

Yes, fleas. Sorry but you will pretty much have to use chemicals. You can have a profession come out and spray, some use natural ingredients, and there are some, but they are not very practical for the average person. Using the vacuum will not help. First it doesn't kill them and they keep multiplying in the bag and get out, Second you are not killing the eggs which will keep hatching and laying more eggs.
