go to an outlet store, buy some red sheets ,the flat ones,-stay away from the fitted ,cause then u would have to do some sewing. no, really. Try to find some red flat sheets and cut to size and there u have it===== one RED CARPIT!!!!

I would think that if you don't want to use a real carpet, you would have no choice but to use material or construction paper (which this would be terrible since it would tear). definitely paint wouldn't work. what other choices would there be? I would use an inexpensive material, just look for remenits(spelling ?) from a local hobby shop or fabric shop.

Hmmmm, this will be difficult without using material. How about lining the sides of the area with a roll of red crepe paper. This will give the impression of a walkway.

You could get cheap fabric from a craft store, otherwise I don't know how else you would do it. Wrapping paper maybe?
