2 weeks ago my landlord sprayed the garden with Roundup. Now several of the my plants are either dead or dying. One tomato plant has a tomato ready to eat, but I am nervous about serving it to the family. The plant looks pretty bad. The leaves are yellow and the main stalk is gray and shriveled. Any ideas? Thanks!

The primary chemical in roundup is 2-4d, a plant hormone that makes a plant grow itself to death. it only affects dicots, not monocots, so grass and corn (monocots) are unaffected, while weeds and tomato plants (dicots) die quickly. Most trees are dicots, but they are usually to big to be effected.
anyway, 2-4d has no negative effect on humans at all. If roundup is all that's wrong with your tomato, wash it off and eat it.

DO NOT EAT IT. DO NOT EAT IT. ROUND UP IS AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR KILLING UNWANTED WEEDS, GRASS, AND PLANTS............... IT DOES WASH AWAY AS THE SEASONS GO, TRY TO MOVE YOUR PLANTS TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION IF POSSIBLE. HOME GROWN TOMATOES DO WORK IN SIDE CONTAINERS TOO. I DO MINE THAT WAY AND ENJOY THEM.

Welllll, yaaaaaaaaa. But, I wouldn't reccommend it.
