Wahhh. I've got a gnat infestation (feel worse for the neighbor though who seems to have thousands of them hovering in his yard.) They like the bathrooms and kitchen the most but also go to other areas and are almost at the point of almost attacking me (they hover in front of my face and when I try to swat, I usually miss and I think they are really waiting for me to turn my back so they can contaminate my food after flying from being who knows where else). My husband fixed the pipe works so I don't think they're coming from there. We also have other insects such as earwigs or something similar, various species of spiders, the occasional roaches, various species of flies and beetles, and some other bugs that I haven't named yet, and I'm concerned that if I go natural, the remedies may cancel each other out or draw in more little beasties.
Do foggers work in a large room that's probably, let's just say 800 square ft? Short of professionals, any other suggestions?

foggers work well but be sure and follow directions on can do not use more than rercommended and BE SURE and turn off all ignition sources ( gas pilots ) every year someone blows up their house by using too many cans of foggers in small areas as far as the dishes and foods you should place foods in plastic sealable bags and thouroughly wash dishes after fogging. leave cabinets open to insure those areas are treated as well as the room area one can should be sufficient for 800sq ft

Walmart has 4 packs of foggers that work well. Turn your dishes upside down, close cabinet doors.

Gnat catcher: cut top off of a plastic 1 liter (any tall one will do) put a piece of banana in the bottom, invert the top (neck down) tape to bottom. Gnats and bugs get in, but can't get out. Good luck

As said, follow the directions on the can! You should put food away and make sure that there are no open containers of food. I think that the cupboards should be opened, and if you are worried maybe cover them with a towel during the fogging.
I've used them many times to kill spiders in my home. They work well, and I've had no problems with residue.
