I recently bought a new couch that has a real problem with static electric buildup. What can I do to lessen/remove this? Is there a way to ground a couch? the buildup is enough to make hair stand up with minimal touching of the couch. i'm not rubbing my arm on it for 5 minutes to get this to happen. Just sit, stand up. you'll discharge on something. i sat down with my laptop and got stung twice just during the motion of sitting.

How do I get rid of stale cigerette smoke in my house? My husband smokes and the smell is so strong, I have 2 kids and although he doesnt smoke in the prensence of them, the smell can still be smelt. He smokes in our bedroom wich is upstairs and when he opens up the bedroom door, the smell travels to the down stairs. We have gotten into several arguments about him smokin in the house which does no good. The smell is disgusting. So for anyone out there, how do I get rid of the smell when I have no air freshner or frebreeze?

No matter what I do dishes are coming out gritty and you can see it too and sometimes has to be rewashed 2 or more times. I have tried every type of brand name cleaner in liquid, powder or gel pack, I have even tried jetdry and still when I pull out my glasses and sometimes other dishes you can clearly see what looks baked on dirt(I have even shut off the heated dry)...I am not blocking the cut outs for the spray....could it be because I have a well? Is there any resolve to this??? thanks for any help....

I currently have some professional sound equipment connected to a power/surge protector that, when initially connected, indicated a 120 volt connection. Now, for unknown reasons, the power/surge protector is flashing, indicating a change in voltage has occurred, and when a voltage meter was used to check the line, it indicated that a voltage of approximately 132 volts is now present. What could have happened, given that nothing has been changed, and what do I do to correct the problem?

My new compost heap sems to attract loads of tiny flies, probably fruit flies. My old one (in another house) never did. Is it too dry or wet? too cold? not enough air getting to it or too much?

Doesn't it make sense to go from Off to Low, then Medium, and then High? Why start with High? Is there a reason or story behind this?

I've heard that keeping the glass doors open while the fire burns is counterproductive, as it sucks more inside (warm) air up the chimney. but standing by the fire, I'd really have to say that when the doors are open, more heat is radiating into the room FROM the fire than going TO the fire (and up the chimney)...so what the crap? does a fire in the fireplace make my gas furnace work HARDER or give it a little break?

My Dad said to always keep the doors closed. I wonder - what's the point in having a fire if you can't feel it's warmth? I mean it looks cool, but so would a bunch of candles if it's just for ambiance...

I have an outdoor shed that has a high pitched roof that will allow an upper floor to be added. The pitching starts at 10 feet. To lay a floor down, what size crossbars should I lay down left to right so that I can place plywood on top of this that will provide good stability for support. The floor will contain boxes and overflow items, but not heavy items such as machinary.

Are 2 X 4 beams heavy enough, and if so, how far apart should they be? I assume 3/4 inch plywood is acceptable as the floor on top of the plywood.

Thanks

this government just made us put water meter on our communities 75 home wells.

I pay 750 a year already for 2 shares.

question:

for 100 days I have a reading of 10,000 gallons for a family of 4. Is this about right for winter time with no watering outside gardens and such?

What is average?

We have a cap, and if we go over it for the year we pay more.

I know its silly, being the middle of winter! But I am new at gardening, and really anxious to start planting so I want to get prepared. Can you store seeds in the freezer? If anyone know of a good web-site, I would appreciate it! :o) thanks
