How do I get rid of stale cigerette smoke in my house? My husband smokes and the smell is so strong, I have 2 kids and although he doesnt smoke in the prensence of them, the smell can still be smelt. He smokes in our bedroom wich is upstairs and when he opens up the bedroom door, the smell travels to the down stairs. We have gotten into several arguments about him smokin in the house which does no good. The smell is disgusting. So for anyone out there, how do I get rid of the smell when I have no air freshner or frebreeze?

RECOMMEND THAT U PURCHASE A AIR PURIFICATION PORTABLE UNIT WHICH CAN BE FOUND AT MOST HOME DEPOT AND LOWE. OR CONTACT YOUR HVAC COMPANY TO INSTALL SUCH A SYSTEM ON YOUR UNIT ITSELF

You can use candles but this is only a temporary solution.
The only thing that comes to mind is Febreeze. I would invest in a bottle of it and make sure you keep it on hand.
Spray your drapes, any fabric items; furniture, pillows, etc.
Of course the only way to permanently keep the smell out of your house is for your husband to stop smoking inside. Good luck with this. I don't have any suggestions there unless your children ask him to stop. Maybe he will listen to them.
Good luck!

Unfortunately, even if you mask the smell of his last cigarette, the smoke stays in the curtains, the upholstery, and any other porous material in your house. Until you get him to smoke outside or, better yet, to QUIT, you'll continue to have this problem.

Just don't let him smoke anywhere inside the house. I'm not sure how you're going to do it, but you guys have to compromise.

I smoke ciggars occasionally and my wife smokes ciggaretts daily. I make her smoke outside. When I smoke, I smoke outside. See if he is willing to change.
