I have recently had my 1998 Singer machine serviced. I am trying to sew on calico fabric and I can't seem to adjust the tension. The machine has "auto tension" but that doesn't seem to work.

When I sew straight, the top looks fine, but the bobbin thread is in a straight line and I can pull it right out. If I zig zag, the top looks fine, but the bottom looks odd (like a row of houses, or "M"s with the center "v" upside down, like a house outline).

I have been messing with the tension, but do you adjust the tension with the pressure foot down or up? And with what it is doing, do I need more or less tension? I can only adjust needle tension, not bobbin tension.

The guy I took my machine to for the $100 tune-up said it "was on its last legs"... but it's only 6 years old and I am not a big sewer, so it has less than 6 months' use on it I'd bet. The model is a real basic one, designed for use in sewing classes.... which leads me to believe it should last longer than it has.

I'm 16 and had a house party last night. My parents are on holiday and have no idea what I've done. Everything is back to how it was except 3 crystal wine glasses that my mum got for her anniversary ages ago. Granted, some alcahol was consuded and some of the girls got a bit rowdy and smashed them, now there is only 1 left in the set, what do i tell my mum?
And admitting to having a party is out of the question!

Where my boyfriend and I are staying theres 3 bedrooms, living room and kitchen. My boyfriend has only been using the living room heating since its an apartment. Anyway I have rabbits and they stay in a bedroom since the cold weather is approaching i'm worried they may get to cold. There is a smaller room with a small heater. It hasn't been used for who knows how long. I turned it up today to even see if it worked. (My boyfriend thoguht only the living room heat worked.)

Anyway, my question is, can you just turn heat on? the heater looks in good shape, its one of the heaters that goes along the floor about 3 feet long. Can I just turn it up little by little? It had a funny smell at first, it may be normal i've smelt it before when you first use your heat for the season. I just want to turn it on a little maybe to like 78 degrees or lower only for the rabbits.

Thanks

I wanted to put some colored crushed glass on top of the cement i will be pouring around my outside bar. However of course i don't want it to be sharp, cutting my feet when you walk. What can you do so that you get the cool appearance of the colored glass on the walkway but without the worry if it cutting or even coming loose from the cement?

Of the inflatable beds you've had to endure as guests or as a handy space saving method, can anyone recommend any model of inflatable matress and whether they are bad for the back in the long term?

I have a friend that prefers to stay over on drinking nights instead of drink driving home. The sofa is deadly and this is an idea. Otherwise it'll have to be the sleeping bed!

The agent also state that I can only gain access to my own house if the tenant is in agreement. I had always thought that I could ask to view the houseat any time as long as I gave sufficient notice to all parties.
The problem has arisen as I gave the tenant three months notice to vacate the property and she is refusing to leave the property and it's all going to court. She has had the locks changed and also stated that the attic hatch 'fell down'. Now I used a hammer to knock the bolt into place for the attic hatch and then secured it with a padlock.
Has anyone got any advice on this? Is there any legal script that I can use to get into my house to examin my private property in my attic?
Thanking anyone and everyone in advance.
