We have enough money to pay off our 30 year morgage ( 29 years left) and a little money left in the bank. We were going to put it in our retirement fund, but think it might be better to pay off the house. Anyone know if it would be benificial one way or the other (tax wise etc)

I have withdrawn from a property purchase due to finding out detrimental info about the property /area which the sellers deliberately witheld from us. I purchased some items from them & left them in the property in good faith during the conveyacing process. I have a reciept from them for the private sale. I should have gone through my solicitor, but trusted the sellers - BIG MISTAKE! They have since emigrated. Family member has keys to the house, but wont give me access to remove the items i bought, and they wont give me the money back. I have tried phoning and writing to explain, and been very diplomatic, but they have cut off all communication and dont want to know. I do not know the address where they have emigrated or the family members address, although solicitors should know. I intend to take them to small claims court if this is possible, as i have lost @ £4000 in total. Has anyone been in this position? Would be grateful for any experience or advice shared. Thanks.

I have never bought bed sheets (my ex wife took care of that).

For a standard double (full size) bed, I want / need a top sheet, bottom sheet, and 2 pillow cases. I go to stores in Louisville Ky and find so many choices, I have no idea which to choose.
I want really high quality and high comfort level. Money is no object.
There are 250 count, 400 count, 600 count. There are egyptian cotton, and other materials. There are Bed-in-a-Bag sets.
What brands are best ????
I want whatever is very comfortable and will last at least 1 year or two.
Money is no object.

Hi everyone,

My girlfriend and I have recently moved to a new flat and most things are great - however we have one big problem.

Every so often there is a noise outside like a loud hairdryer which comes on and lasts between 20 seconds and 10 minutes - the noise seems to be coming from a round plastic cone which is on the wall of the flat next door. The noise sounds like an extractor fan, and comes on and off randomly either throughout the day and often throughout the night....it's about 2 metres away from our bedroom window and is loud enough to wake us both up. Sometimes it doesn't come on for days and often when no-one is there

We think it must be a fan venting from the heating system, it seems to be blowing air out. Today spoke to the neighbours who said they don't know about it and say they'll speak to the landlord.

Does anyone have experience of this sort of thing? Any advice? Is this an environmental health issue and what are our rights in the UK if this keeps waking us up?
