My patio is covered but the outer rows of the tile get rain and some swimming pool water. These rows of tiles are deteriorating (flaking) and even turning to mud. When dry the surface is about a 1/4 inch down from rest of patio. Not sure if I can repair existing tiles with sealant or if they need to be replaced? If sealant is the answer, what prep do I need to do?

I have a 14.4 volt post type charge PS180 to charge PS140 Type 3 batteries which doesn't seem to be working anymore, even with a new battery. Some sites on the internet say not to use the PS180 charger because of its problems, but to use instead a PS1MVC Multicharge 1 Hour charger as a replacement. The batteries for these Firestorm tools never held a charge for long, so the original charger could have been the problem. Did switching chargers solve the problem for you?

I built a bulkhead above my kitchen counters and installed recessed lighting that runs off of an on/off switch with a dimmer control. After the first light bulb burned out, the dimmer function stopped working. Now they will only turn on and off, but not dim. Is this because of the burned out light bulb or is something wrong with the switch?

My furnace has been working fine for the past years, but this year it has been stopping frequently, about once every 3 or 4 hours. But then all I had to do to make it start up again was to go downstairs or the thermostat and turn the main on/off switch off and then on again. Then it works. What's the problem here, the furnace, or the thermostat? And how can I keep my furnace working full-time?

By the way, the thermostat is a "White Rodgers", and the furnace brand is LUXAIRE, model G8T08012UHA11A

Much thanks : )

I bought a MYSON 228 spring return actuator valve. There are 5 wires from the valve, Brown and blue go to the thermostat, but 3 remaining wires, Grey, White (both switch lives ) and an orange ( common) is whats confusing me. I have switch for the heat on the wall, which switches 3 ways, Timed, Off and Constant. How do I wire those 3 remaining wires to that switch for the heat ?

Changing some baseboards in my house and currently have electric baseboard heat. I saw these electric hyrdonic baseboard heaters at Home Depot. Will these just wire up or do I need a water line or anything else? It says that the heating element is immersed in a liquid to radiate the heat better. Thanks

I have run my snowblower through one tank of gas already, so the gas in it isn't more than a couple of months old (the leftover gas for the lawnmower). I prime it and I can hear the gas squirting into the engine. Pull the starter and it starts right up. Runs for about 5 seconds, then quits. Try again, nothing. Try priming it again and all I hear is air. No sloshing of the gas squirting into the engine. That was two days ago. Got a new spark plug -- needed one anyway. Repeated all the above steps. First prime felt like it squirted gas, then it started, then stalled. Second time I tried priming I got the same sound of air. Pulled off the gas line as it enters the carb and primed. All I got was air, no gas.

It sounds to me like I have a blockage in the fuel line? Something that lets fuel through extremely slowly. Does this sound likely? Any advice is welcome. I'm about to take apart the carb but seems like it's before that. Thanks!

I am replacing a gas water heater that is 12 years old. It's time to replace it. I see that there are tankless water heaters out there now. My questions are as follows:

1) Is tankless water heater technology mature?

2) How does a tankless water heater work to supply hot water for a shower or filling a bathtub? In such a scenario, cold water (possibly 35-50F) must be heated very quickly by a hundred degrees or more in real time in order to supply hot water fast enough. How does such a water heater accomplish this?

3) My specific needs are for a shower or two at a time, lasting in total 10-20 minutes, and then intermittent daily use in faucets and the like. Would a tankless fill needs?

4) Any specific brands to seek out/avoid?

Thanks.

I have nice counter tops, but one part is just wood. I have the top part that matches the other counters, it is thin and I could cut it with an esacto knife. Can I just glue it to the wood counter with wood glue? Is that sturdy enough for a cupboard?
