I have a 14.4 volt post type charge PS180 to charge PS140 Type 3 batteries which doesn't seem to be working anymore, even with a new battery. Some sites on the internet say not to use the PS180 charger because of its problems, but to use instead a PS1MVC Multicharge 1 Hour charger as a replacement. The batteries for these Firestorm tools never held a charge for long, so the original charger could have been the problem. Did switching chargers solve the problem for you?

I tried a firestorm drill and reciprocating saw. I charged everything up by the book. the drill was fine but the batteries would NOT last at all with the saw. took it back to lowes, they gave me a new battery, same deal with it. took it all back.

I agree with the guys, a trickle charger is the way to go and you can find em just about anywhere. I would only use a charger if I was going to store a bike for more than a month. If your batteries won't hold a charge for 1-2 weeks, then it is time to replace em. I also have 2 bikes, and sometimes one bike may sit a month before I ride it. I don't ever recharge the battery, the bike starts fine. I do automatically replace my batteries after they turn 5 years old.

Since your past experience has been so bad even with new batteries, it must be the charger. You should definitely switch to the other model.

Personally though, I prefer Dewalt for my rechargeable tools. But if you are locked into a B&D product this would not be compatible.
