V2 rockets....lol.....Ok, enough of the WWII references and for a serious answer..........more than likely cuz of the climate and geological differences. Brick stands up better to rain and snow than wood. It could be too that lumber is more readily available in the US than it is in the UK, therefore cheaper to build in brick than lumber.

Because everything they build in their country is design with more than one use in mind, concrete buildings have always made a more suitable shelter for munitions, and offensive positions when needed.

Becuase in USA people have the freedom to live in flimsy homes and spend the money on frivolous things like big screen tv, master bathrooms, fancy trim, and AC.
