Our new gunite pool is approximately 15'x32', varying from 3' to 5' deep. We are losing about 1.5" of water each day. Our previous vinyl-lined pool only required water every week or so, we're having to fill the new one every couple of days. I am convinced there is a leaky pipe somewhere. Is this water loss normal?

I rent an apartment in Scottsdale AZ. The complex is presently working on replacing tiles etc on the roof!! (btw its 112 degrees during the day.) We are now on our 5 th day with no tiles on the roof. As we are upstairs you can imagine that the a/c is running constantly and rarely goes below 80 . we were not told of this work taking place..Should i be able to get some compensation for my electric bill. Its already ridiculously high, thats the price of living in the desert..But how much of this is due to having the tiles off the roof? Can anyone help, or is there someone i should get in touch with,,thanx in advance

my pump is not building up as much pressure as it did two weeks ago, all of a sudden it has a major loss of flow and i had to reajust the pressure switch for it to even shut off, the pressure goes down slowly from 45 psi untill it hits twenty then drops all the way to ten in an instant and has just a trickle coming out of the spickit and the pump kicks back on at 20psi but will not repressurise past 35 psi untill i shut the spickit back off and it takes probably 5 minuits to get it back up to 45 to shut the pump back off, I have a flint and walling jet pump on top of a 2- 2 and a quarter inch steel pipe in a well house,
it is a 1hp. motor 110/230v model 94h110
i hope i gave enough info. what are some things to check?
and what other things could it be?

I recently put a weight bench in my garage. It is in the center of the garage and not near any water or other moisture. However, it has only been there for about 4 days and the weight bar already has spots of rust on it! I've noticed that some of my older hand tools get covered in rust in a short period of time in my garage as well. Is there something other than water that could be causing metal to rust so fast?

We were at a party this weekend, shaded porch, but ambient temp in the 90s, high humidity. A group was sitting at a glass top patio table with cool drinks in glass glasses. The table simply exploded and dropped to the floor in safety glass cubes. We were stunned (some minor ankle nicks). No one had hands on table, nothing sharp, no sudden blows, no heavy load on table.

Thermal shock was our only guess. Anyone ever had a similar experience? Ideas?

I came home today from work to find a window fan in the kitchen. I noticed it wasnt blowing in any air. It was turned backwards so its blowing air outside. I asked my mom why the fan is reversed. She Says because she is blowing all the hot air from the kitchen outside. In my head im going wtf??? Correct me if im wrong but isnt it better blown In than out? and isnt Hot air better than NO air? i couldnt reason my point with her. I just said forget it and i went into my room with the air conditioner that i bought. Oh and My air conditioner is facing the RIGHT way if you were wondering lol.

We have a table top outdoor patio heater.
It runs with a small propane tank.
Once we light it, the lamp stays lit and gives off warmth, but the propane tank gets iced over. It's the weirdest thing.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or know why this would happen?

My landlady probably did this important as an environmental measure, but the thing is, it's counter-productive, because one flush does nothing. It just leaves a toilet that needs to be flushed at least twice every time.

Thanks.

I had a repair technician come out to my home as my AC did not seem to be keeping up with the heat. They quoted me $104 and they would tell me what needs to be done for that price and then deduct it if they did the work.

They come out and said my coolant was "5 pounds low" They added the 5 pounds at $29 per pound. Then the service guy crawled up into the attic and said there ws ice buildup. He went back and fourth and between the unit and attic for over an hour. Doing what, I'm not sure.

He then puts everything back together and hands me a bill for $389!

After he left, I crawled into the attic in the exact spot he claimed the ice was and found nothing, not even any moisture or wettness on any piping.

I think I was totally ripped off.

I have a window air conditioner (8000btu) which does a great job of cooling my living room, unfortunately, the cooler air stays in just the living room, so the bedroom is still hot. I have 2 fans to help move the air. I also have a ceiling fan in the bedroom, but, it seems the bedroom is always FAR warmer than the living room. I'm wondering the best way to position the fans to get maximum cooling effect in the bedroom.

The living room is essentially a square -- on one side of the square - in the middle - is the window with the AC.. oppisite the AC is the hallway which leads to the bedroom.

Would I be better off putting a fan at the entrance to the hallway blowing the air out of the living room, and down the hallway? or put it in the center of the living room, and blow the air towards the hallway? Or should I blow the hot air out of the bedroom, to the livingroom? Should I put the fans up high? or close to the ground? Should I turn off the ceiling fan in the bedroom?

Thanks.

Our backyard pool is a monster! It greens up if you look at it crossways, and even when it's about the right color it's cloudy as heck. Chemical tests show we've gotten the PH good, but hardly any chlorine to show for all the chlorine we've been dumping in there! What are we missing?

I have a GE washer (model WWSR3130W1WW) and last night when I went to do some laundry, it ran, but at the end of the cycle it wouldnt spin. My clothes were drenched (yeck). I tried to restart it, but it just wouldn't spin. I'm thinking (because its been squeeky lately) that the belt broke or the pulley is frozen maybe. But I can't figure out how to open my washer up to peek inside. Any help is appreciated!
