It is a combination of lead, tin, and antimony. Some solder also has a flux core made of resin or acid.

It depends on the use; electrical solder is usualy about 63% tin; the rest lead with a rosin-based flux. Lately, they have been trying to eliminate lead from electrical products by switching over to a tin/silver/copper alloy solder. Plumbing solder is now mostly tin with a few % other metals. The old plumbing solder was about 50/50 lead/tin. You can still get the lead solder if you want it. Its used for stained glass windows, copper roof work etc.
