That's insane. You need to contact the city and tell them the situation, obviously this person is a contractor or the problem already would have been dealt with. First off, they should have discussed this procedure with you seeing as how your bldg stood to be affected, and second, NO, you are not responsible for the damages. There is a way to tear one side of a connected office down without damaging others around it, people do it all the time. Get ahold of City Hall, tell them your situation, file a property damage complaint and go from there. I would find out the name of the demo company first, get the dates documented of the demo and find out if you can get the foreman/supervisor of the jobs' name and #. All of that will be helpful.

First call the police and file a vandalism report. Then contact the owners of the building which was taken down and request (in writing) that your building be "made whole" immediately, make reference to a reasonable period of time. You can determine this by contacting the company that tore down the building and ask them how long it will take to correct the problem.State in your letter if the building owners do not fulfill their obligation by said time, you will take civil action against them. Finally contact your insurance company. Good luck.

You need to call a lawyer plain and simple. I

f indeed they damaged your property then they are liable. They should have a bond and insurance that would cover it.

Talk with the city and explain to them that you are in a dispute with the owners. Most of the time they will work with you. Also check to see if they pulled permits when they took the wall down. If they did not file a complaint with the city about that.

Send a letter to the company, and a copy of it to the town. In it, tell them you are going to repair the damage they have done and will bill them for all costs including daily fines, court and atty fees.

Better still, have a local atty send the letter.

They are definitely responsible!

Take plenty of PICTURES! See if you can get a picture from the town building department of before they changed their building, for a comparison.

Definitly, talk to your local TV station. See if they are willing to do a bit on it. Don't forget to do the "Boohoo Buggy" and let them know how upset you are.

holy crap, I am soo sorry that you are going through this... It sounds like a big joke... They should totally have to repair the wall that THEY took down!
have you contacted the local police, or did an interview with the newspaper about it? Try to contact the better business bureau and file a complaint... Good Luck with everything, I have my fingers crossed hoping that you don't have to pay for it

Why in the world don't you have insurance on a building you own? You need a lawyer, now. I'm afraid you are in for a world of hurt. Those insurance premiums didn't pay are going to real cheap before you are finished with this mess.

One if you haven't already call your insurance agent and rejport the claim. Two if you know the contractor or people who tore down the other building, call them and report the claim to them. It's their responsibility, it's called PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY. Talk to your agent, they may pay your claim, then go after the contractor for reinbursement. Also their attorneys will handle it. If you don't have insurance well
then it's time to call an attorney and take the contractor to court. They are Libel. Good Luck

You haven't checked with your insurance company by now? They should tell you what to do or have you repair it, pay for it and send the bill to proper people (their insurance). Problem should be solved.

You expect a legally binding answer here? How about contacting a lawyer on this one. It sounds more expensive than a traffic ticket to me.

You are asking a legal question in a place where people say what they "think" and not law. Get an attorney.
