Gutters surround the edge of your roof collecting the water run off and dispersing it the ground through your downspouts. They also collect leaves, and other depris so need to be cleaned once a year at least otherwise they don't properly channel the water into your downspouts and will spill over. If you are good on a ladder and feel comfortable you can clean them yourself. We hire it out. Otherwise you can buy gutter guards to protect against depris and leaves and not worry about it. Your choice. I would hire it out.

Congratulations on owning your first house. Rain from the roof will run down to the bottom, into the gutters (usually metal) and attached to the roof, then the rain goes down the sides to the ground. To clean them as leaves and debris will collect sometimes, we get a ladder and go up with a water hose and run water along the gutters. We only need to do it once a year. Again, all the best in your new home.

gutters can be metal or plastic (vinyl ) and run along the lower edges of your roof. They are designed to catch water run-off but also catch leaves, branches and fill up with the grains from your asphalt shingles. Just get up there and decide if hosing it out is needed or if you can use a leaf blower to clean it. While you are into doing work on your gutter....check to make sure all gutters are secured to your eaves and run water in your gutters and check for leaks that might need to be sealed back up again.

A gutter is the metal that surrounds the roof so it can channel the rain to one or more places. walk around your house and if it has gutters then you will see what looks like a square pipe comming down somewhere on the house. that is the down spout for the gutters. if the gutters get clogged then it can not channel the rain and it can overflow in places that you dont want it to. to clean a gutter you will either have to put up a ladder so you can reach in to the gutter to pull out the junk that gets into the gutter or you will have to get up on the roof and you can see inside the gutters to clean them out. use a waterhose in the down spout from the top going down inside it and the water from the hose helps to clean it out. to keep junk like leaves and other stuff out of your gutters then you will need to install a gutter screen and that will help keep your gutters clean

Gutters are the evestroughs that go around the roof of your house.
Get up on a ladder and either hose them out with water if they're not too dirty or clean them out by hand and then wash out with the hose. The easiest way is to take a bucket up with you and put the debris in the bucket as you clean.

Gutters run along the edges of your roof. They catch leaves and debris. Some have guards and do not need to be cleaned. Others need to be cleaned. One easy way is to climb a ladder with a bucket and fill it to hand down to a handy helper to empty. Otherwise, you have a big mess. Congratulations on becoming a homeowner.

We put dust, liquid waste all into gutter. Sometimes due to heavy rain gutter overflows and all these things comes out of it. It starts stinking. We need to clean it regularly. It will keep us away from many problems.

You've got some pretty good answers, But if you can get on top of House or have a Handyman man do IT, Use a leaf blower and they will come clean in seconds. Best of Luck
