Help - after heavy rainfall, a damp patch appeared on the wall of the living room with a bit of orange down the middle. Now the orange stuff has grown. I've heard this could be dangerous but landlord says just to wash it off and stick the wall paper back on (it's on both wallpaper and on wall although there is not a lot of it). What to do?

I live in Mandeville Louisiana and we've have had a LOT of rain lately and the ground was fairly saturated. Anyway, I've got a septic tank in the ground in front yard and around one of the pipes it sounds like it is gurggling and some bubbles are coming up from under ground. Can the saturated soil from the frequent rain lately have an effect on this?

I am going to paint a concrete porch and the only thing keeping me is patches of glue left over from the astro turf that had been removed. i had found some 30 minute adhesive remover that makes the glue come up pretty well (along with the old paint) except the scraping is just too much of a job and not really that much remover comes in one can. so i have decided too just dip a paint brush in the adhesive remover and go over the glue patches and then give it hell with a power washer. i was just wondering if anyone might have some usefull tips and might know of some well working products i cound find a a local lowes store that might work better. I am also open to hearing other methods that might be easier, Thanks!

I got my electric bill for this month from con Ed.
It is $320.00. Considering the amount of electricity my family
used this month, this bill seems to be more than what it is supposed to be.

As a reference, my family members are at work most time except for myself (high school student) so we rarely use air conditioner during the day. I like darkness (feels less hot) so I don't even let the lights on during the day. Though I use fans for hours everyday, it shouldn't cost a lot, right? I leave my computer on everyday for hours but computers use very little electricity.

My parents and sister don't like cold so only I use air conditioner at night for about three hours. (The air conditioner is a small one that only cools my tiny room) And other tiny little things such as using stoves to maintain your living.
Oh, also, my family don't watch TV usually. I think this electric bill is over rated. It says I used 1650 kwh in 30 days. Is this correct?

We had a fridge delivered but couldnt use it right away. When we finally plugged it in the fridge didnt feel cold. Inside the fridge at the top where the air blows there was styrofoam. We pulled what we could out but it feels as if there is still some in there and the fridge doesn't get very cold. Its hard to see in where the air blows from because the hole in the top faces the back of the fridge .The freezer works fine.
Is styrofoam normally put in there? Do i need to somehow pull out the rest of it?

Moved into our new construction home Jan '07. This was a custom build. End of Jan our Trane AC/Heat Pump secondary drain pan filled up and kicked off the kill switch. This has continued to happen EVERY month. AC subcontractor has been trying to make the thing right. Basically going thru their troubleshooting every 30 days. Still crapping out. Tonight was the 9th time. Twice in 2 days. Compressor went out yesterday and they got it going again. Tonight it started blowing hot. They arrived; magically starting blowing cold after doing nothing to the unit. My wife finally lost it, called AC owner and demanded to see a new AC in our home. We also contacted the builder and demanded that he make something happen. AC contractor 1st suggested going thru Trane support then said he'd call the local Trane rep to replace (who's been well aware of this and has been suggesting troubleshooting tips to AC guy thru this process). This thing has drug out long enough. What do we do? Legal? Wait out?

It's approx 100' from the house to the garage. I just installed a 100 amp breaker box in the garage and now I need to run electric from the house to it.
What would you suggest? Size 4 or 6, copper or alum? What would be the advanges of either? I want to hold down cost as much as I can but, be safe. Also, it's needs to be underground wire.
Do I need single strand wire? Or can I get the same wire with 2 wires and a ground included?
One more thing to think about, at some point in the future I am planning to put a small 30amp welder in.

Well I went downstairs just a few minutes ago and was greeted with an awful smell.. the smell of burnt rubber. I have no idea what it is, and I'm worried that it might be something serious.
Any idea what it could be, and can it be dangerous?

Yahoo sent me a 60 watt soft white flourescent light to as they put it " helping to make a better planet", I was also sent a book bag that is just right size for a few papers. That light is about as bright as the idea and that's pretty dim. The book bag isn't big enough to hold anything but the light bulb that arrived today. Anybody have any suggestions???????????

Turns out my new apartment is 95% on the same breaker so my 120V, 12.7A microwave can't draw enough current without affecting everything else. (also doesn't run properly in apt but works fine in my office). Wondering people's experience finding a lower current drawing oven. The lowest I've found has been 8.2 Amps.
