How do I repair a wood table whose stain and finish have been damaged?

In order to repair a wooden table that has had its stain and finished damaged you are going to have some work cut out for you...
The right way would be to completely strip and sand off the original finish and then restain it and put a new coat finish. Ask your nearest hardware store for types of finish based on what you are going to use your table for.
