We have two built-in electric ovens. Last night, the element on one would not go out so I turned off the circuit breakers.
There are two double breakers.
I turned both on tonight to see if the problem was fixed, which it was not (element came back on), so I turned off one breaker (hoping it was for the oven with the problem).
Well, both ovens still have power and will go on, with one breaker turned off, but the element on the bad oven is now off!
Does this mean that the other breaker is not wired in?
Am I losing my mind?
thanks for any help.

The piece of furniture was in water for a week about a year and a half ago. I have restored the whole piece but just tried the drawer and it wouldn't go in. I glued the drawer together and it is definitely square. I have also sanded one of the sides of the drawers that seems to be sticking and it still won't go in. I made sure the piece itself was not racked and it seems to be square. I am just not sure where to go with it from here. Any help would be great.

Everything was fine last night when I went to bed and woke up with no water. However I did notice yesterday that the water was dirty but only in the toilets. It has been up to -33 with windchill factor. Do you think the pump went out of the well froze? The neighbors are fine.

When the breaker is tripped, the switch automatically switches off. But when I place switch back in the on position, the lights and heater come back on. What does the tripping indicate? Is that a sign I should stop using the heater, or is that normal after a few hours. The heater runs all day, and the tripping occurs around early evening. I'm usually in one room most of the time when I'm home, so it's cheaper to run the space heater, rather than heat up the entire place. Also, breaker box is in my kitchen.

I have several broken or missing asbestos singles on my house. It is too expensive to have all of them removed and replaced with another type siding. Is it feeseable to cut a screen patch the size of the shingle I need and pour a thin layer of cement on it. Will it be stable enough to withstand the elements?

I have frozen water pipes in my house. They supply an upstairs bathroom, and are in an interior wall, about a foot in from the outside wall. I don't have access to them except above the suspended ceiling in the basement. I need ideas on how to get enough warm air into that space between the studs to thaw them.

I bored a hole up from the basement into this space, hoping to use a hair dryer to blow warm air into the space, but that doesn't work. I put a small lightbulb into the hole, hoping to heat it, but it didn't work - it just scorched the inside of the drywall. I tried using a PVC pipe to help move the hot air from the dryer well up into the space, but the hair dryer starts to shut down - the pipe is too small, and it restricts airflow, overheating the dryer.

At this point I'm starting to wonder if I have to cut a hole into the wall to allow airflow. If I do that, I'll fill that cavity with foam beads to insulate it. But I want something to thaw the pipe now! Any ideas?

It's a Kenmore Heavy Duty older model. I'm guessing fuse or timer but do not know how to even check, I've only had experience repairing dryers mostly for burnt wires! The machine opens at the top and I see wires leading to what I believe is the timer but I do not see any fuses anywhere, I haven't removed the back panel as I think that leads only to the tub? I had no problems before it totally stopped full of water. I had to manually drain using a container! I checked to be sure plug outlet was working and it was fine. Please help, thank you! (Still paying off Christmas, no $$ for replacement or even repairman and my hands are cracking from trying to keep up washing in the sink!)

The furnace is electronic ignition and the clicking continues while the burners ignite. After several seconds the clicking stops and the burners go out. I have to turn the thermostat to 90 degrees in order for the burners to stay lit. As I turn the thermostat down to 70 degrees or less the burners go out and the problem repeats itself. The blower comes on with no problem
