I would also say it is the heater element that has burned apart. You will see a gap in the heating coil. You can clean the burned ends of the ceramic coat about 1/2 inch on each side right down to the nichromium wire. . Then take a regular stainless steel hose clamp, a small one and reclamp the two end breaks together. Mine has lasted over three years with this repair and still going.

Should you decide on a new element, A new heater element is about $35 and quite easily installed. Get that at any appliance store, Remove the old one first and take it with you for a match.

check the outside vent...it maybe that there is a clog in the air supply into the dryer

I believe that the heating element has gone bad....just replace it, shouldnt be much, im not sure exactly how much mine was, but it was fairly cheap.
