having problems with the bed being level on the wooden platform it lays on. i am sure the cement floor has imperfections in it,it is a new addition and settled somewhat. How can we find high and low spots on bed and shave it down? it is 7ft x 8ft roughly.made out of 1 x 8 pine and center 3/4 plywood. bed sits inside pedestal. only those who know please answer thank you, laura

Instead of altering the bed, I suggest that you either use shims or levelling feet. Shims are small wedge-shaped pieces of wood that you'd put under the legs or base where there are dips in the floor. http://www.instawares.com/wobble-wedge.280-1174.0.7.htm

I use leveling feet myself. They're very easy because you just turn them to raise of lower the furniture as much as you need to. You can see what they look like here:

They're sometimes just called 'levelers".
