I use a 1/4" hex driver to do sheetmetal work. The hex head works nice until it fills up with tiny metal pieces. How can I clean them out and make it like new?

I do metal work too.
I clean mine with putty sealant like duct gasket material or anything like that - Permagum, DuctSeal, etc. You could probably use PlayDoh too. Just stick a piece in the head and pull the chips out.
I've also heard of putting silicone in the head, letting it dry, and pull the dry silicone off, peeling the chips right out.

What if you used a powerful magnet that will collect the shavings from the hex driver?? Just a suggestion....

Silly Putty! It'll collect all those little bits and peel them away from the magnet. When it gets too full, toss it. You only need to use a small piece at a time.

If you have the caulk gun out, hit it with some silicon putty, let it cure and pull it out. Otherwise, use some plumbers putty or steal the toddler's Play Do. Don't let the toddler catch you, though; she'll be angry.
