In my Flat (that I rent out) water from the shower cant escape and runs down the walls and in turn becomes mould. I have a really powerful shower and this only exasperates the problem

My tenant is not using the de humidifier that I gave her and does not put the heating on in the day to save electricity.

Does anyone know how I can stop this water from staying in the flat and causing mould?

I don’t want to lose the tenant as otherwise she keeps the place really tidy and clean

I have a hotpoint fridge, I don't know the model but it is rather basic. I noticed that the light had gone on saturday, but I realised that the light hadn't blown because the filiment was still in tact. I thought it must be the fuse, but I tried the fuse in a different plug and a different fuse in that plug and the fuse was ok. I even tried a different plug. I still think that it must be the power supply that is at fault though as there is no evidence that the fridge is evin trying to turn on at all. I cant really afford to get a dude in to fix it, let alone buy a new one!

My landlord says I am NOT to use the fire place as the smoke comes back into the room and chokes. He said the chimney had been swept on "many occaisions" and it didn't cure it. I opened up the fore place to find 3 dead birds and a shed load of soot.I put a little fire in the grate and the chimney drew perfectly. I told landlord I'd done this and he said it smoked into the room every time a door was opened. He said it had done it ever since the house was built (1950's)
Is he bullshitting me? Is there a remedy? My husband thinks he doesn't want us to light a fire because he won't be insured if it causes any damage.
Any insight would be most appreciated.

Use the heater on a daily basis
Central heat
Makes loud noise
Super strong burning smell (stronger than when the heater hasn't been used in awhile)

Anybody know how much money it would cost to build a 1000 square foot cinderblock home on concrete slab(not lifted). No basement or attick. Flat rock ceiling. With plumbing and electricity and everything from beginning to end. Starting with an empty dirt lot. Lots of information online for lumber wood houses but I can't find anything about cinderblock houses. Thank you for your help. :-)

We purchased a home last year. It was built in 1926. The inspector said that the planed doors and minor cracks in the plaster were from normal settling. However, the upstairs floors are slanting away on all sides from the brick that forms the centrally located fireplace. It is very noticable. Plus, the two doors closest to the fireplace wall won't close because they appear to need another 3/4 in planed away, on top of the 1/2 inch that's gone already. Also, after some work on the sewer line, the contractor stated that there are no footers. They just leveled the ground and started laying brick. The basement is panelled and I don't have complete access to the brick to check for cracks. Where I have checked, there are none. Wondering what others thought.

I've tried cutting glass with the old hardware-store-variety glass cutting tool years ago with little success. Bad tool? No experience? I don't know. Now I have an old 1920s house and a number of spare old wavy glass panes and would like to cut these to fit. Is it hopeless or is there a tool, like a new variety, that would work? Thanks!

The pressure has kept getting higher until now it pegs out the low pressure gauge and is venting through pop-off valve.
Even with the adjusting screw all the way out.

Can I disassemble and clean something to get it working right again?
Is there anything that is safe to lubricate the "innards" on a oxygen regulator?

The laundry drain gurgles when i drain the bathtub and the bathroom sink gets an odor of sewer gas. Also when i drain the kitchen sink, which is a double basin model, the waste water rises up into the other basin about 1/2 inch above drain before draining out. I don't see any vent pipes inside or any vents on roof. No Studor type vents either. All plumbing fixtures are on main floor within 15' radius. My property is rural and sewer system is an underground holding tank with above ground pump-out/ejector system. I'm not worried about "code" at this point as I am looking for answers/suggestions. I will deal with "code" in our area before I begin the work. Your help is appreciated... Thank you.

I have a washing machine (full of water) that won't drain or finish its cycle. I noticed while it was running that we were having some power surges. Today I reset the breaker and the power surges occured once every few minutes only while the washer was plugged in even though it wouldn't run.

its a Kenmore 60 series if you need to know.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

This is my first winter in my really old house. I am under the impression that the old radiators require some sort of key-like device that I would use to somehow release air trapped inside the radiators and make them work more efficiently.

Anyone know anything about this and where a guy like me could buy such a key? Thanks!

All of the sudden, my dishwasher stopped getting water. It goes through the cycles and runs, there is just no water involved in the process. Has anyone else had this happen? What could cause this?

I am trying to fix a leak in my tub faucet. In order to do so, I have to unscrew the handles. I unscrewed the little screw holding the handles, but no matter how much I turn the handle left or right, and no matter how much I pull on it or try to pry it off, the thing just won't come off.
