I have a washing machine (full of water) that won't drain or finish its cycle. I noticed while it was running that we were having some power surges. Today I reset the breaker and the power surges occured once every few minutes only while the washer was plugged in even though it wouldn't run.

its a Kenmore 60 series if you need to know.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

It won't run in any cycle. When I pull the start knob it buzzes for a second (normal sound right before it starts) but then nothing.

Most people use the same cycle over and over again, regardless of how many cycles are on their machine. Therefore I would suggest that you try one of those other cycles and if it works you know that the timer should be replaced. If it still doesn't work it might be time to call the repair man.

By the way, changing the timer is not a simple task. There are many wires and contacts to keep track of and wiring diagrams are usually not available to owners. So I would suggest that you let someone with experience do it for you (again the repairman).

Sorry, but it sounds like you need to Kenmore Man to doctor your washing machine. Maybe something shorted out in it since it seems to be doing something with the power surging.

The motor is gone, a new washing machine (with a warranty) would be cheaper than having it fixed.
