Anybody know how much money it would cost to build a 1000 square foot cinderblock home on concrete slab(not lifted). No basement or attick. Flat rock ceiling. With plumbing and electricity and everything from beginning to end. Starting with an empty dirt lot. Lots of information online for lumber wood houses but I can't find anything about cinderblock houses. Thank you for your help. :-)

Cinder block is a very poor insulator even when the voids are filled. Anything you might save in construction cost may be lost in your increased life cycle cost to keep the house warm and/or cool.

The difference in construction cost will largely be determined by the prevalence of carpenters vs masons in your area. Installation of electricity and plumbing is more costly in a cinder block house. You will also need carpenters for interior partitions and dry wall.

Suggest you rethink using concrete masonry units (cinder block).

Whether you use block or wood do not forget to place a vapor barrier on the ground BEFORE you pour the slab. The vapor barrier should be heavy plastic sheeting 6 mil or greater or roofing felt. If I were doing the job I would also include about 3 inches of styrofoam under the slab for unsulation.

YOU have received some god info on cinder block houses. In addition this might help. They are extremely difficult to heat and cool. Oversizing furnaces causes the furnace heat exchangers to burn out (very expensive to replace) and you never want to undersize either. For a comfortable house you need, HEAT, COOLING, HOT WATER and GOOD INSULATION. That is a major challenge with cnder block homes erected on a concrete slab.
