All of the sudden, my dishwasher stopped getting water. It goes through the cycles and runs, there is just no water involved in the process. Has anyone else had this happen? What could cause this?

Reasons for a dishwasher to not fill with water. Water supply line turned off, float stuck, bad float switch, bad inlet(water solenoid) valve, wire burned off terminal, broken wire, bad timer

Check around the float located in one of the front corners. Many times something falls down and ends under the float keeping it up and the float switch remains open. Occasionally the float gets gunked up and it stays up instead of dropping down when the water level drops. Everything else besides the water supply line would need to be checked by someone with a meter.

Check the float switch in bottom of the dishwasher. It may be stuck in the upper position letting the dishwasher think it is full of water. Tap it down and see what happens...

This has happened to me, and the repairman found the water pump was burnt or worn out. I had a new pump installed and my dishwasher worked fine.

Thanks for the hints - in my case, it was a wheel from the upper rack that was lodged under the float. Removing it fixed my problem!
