My daughter spilled milk or some other liquid on her bedroom floor and a piece of paper actually is stuck on the hardwood now. Is there something I can use to soak this off without damaging the wood? She hid this from me by covering it, so it has been there long enough to dry. Help!

My furnace guy said the heat exchanger of a unit has cracks. I also saw it; but it looked like a crack on the a little bit rusted surface, but i did not see a hole or anything like that. The guy put CO detector at the flue and the CO level shot up at 200 ppm and came back down at 25-30 ppm which I think is normal because that is what the flue is for. He said that is too high, and he says he sees usually 5ppm or low level. Potentionally, it can leak into the main airstream. But there is no CO in the air stream into our house. And then, he said I need to replace the whole unit or the heat exchanger. Is what he said reliable?

I just moved into a new home with a hot tub in the backyard; yesterday I decided to use it for the first time but the jets were not working.

I doubled checked to make sure the spa pump was on, and I also pressed the button that motors on the jets but nothing worked.

Does anybody have any solutions?

Why does it blow its fuse every few days? Works well when fuse replaced but same thing recurs after a few days of functioning well. Nothing else unusual noticed. Its only about a year old.

I have a cistern in the attic that distributes water through the house. Yesterday there was no water for awhile (mains turned off) and so when the cistern refilled we now have just a trickle of water in the kitchen tap. It starts off with a gush if we havent used the tap for awhile and then reduces to a trickle. Its an ordinary cold water tap. How do I get rid of the air lock? Other taps are all working fine and water is full in the cistern.

I am looking to put a heat pump in my house that is currently heated by electric strips and cooled by window units. Looking for an estimate of what it will cost.

I mean, realistically- if you set your thermostat for 66 degrees and its 25 outside- at 64 the heat will turn on. If its set for 70 degrees (still 25 outside) and the heat turns on at 68- its only heating the house 2 degrees either way. Would the rate of heat loss be different because of a higher temperature?

I normally would take this as an easy project but this bed has wheels on it so putting it on a platform will have it just roll off...

I'm looking to make the whole bed (including frame) raise up 2 more inches.

any cheap ideas?

(must not be noticeable at the bottom of the bed)

I counted around 20 pairs of socks and underwear, all socks were recovered, but 2 pairs of underwear missing. Machine won't run now, and there's a wierd straining sound each time i turn it on. What do you think happened? could i try to rectify problem myself, instead of spending hundreds on getting the repairman to come over? thanks.

Hi whenever I use the tub or shower, the pipe that comes from the tub drain leading to the main drain leakes. It seems to be leaking from the (nipple ?)but either way, is it better to replace this (brass?) pipe with a PVC pipe or try to repair the nipple...Thank you to all of you who have been trying to help me with this same problem. I'm just still not sure what the best rememdy is.

Helloo~

I am renting a house on my own with my bf and neither of us have lived alone before so in all fairness...when it comes to technical things, we're noobs :/

Anyways, this place we're renting its a huge house and its very old and the person before us had a washer and dryer. The Dryer was down in the basement connected directly through the fuse box and the washer was upstairs in the kitchen (odd I know) She moved out and we moved in. The washer and dryer didn't work... and we had problems with the electrcity shutting off randomly...so we had a breaker box put in.

What I need to know is, now that the old fuse box is out, what would I need to look for in order to know if I can have a washer and dryer in my house? My mom tells me to look for "the box" for my dryer to connect to, but I have no clue what shes talking about...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

The letter box is already cut in the door but I don't know how to fit the new brass cover with 2 bolts. The old one had outside screws on each side of the letterbox cover but this new one is a different style with no fixin on the outside that I can see.
