Alright, for some reason my tub (tub/shower) has slowly and now almost completely gotten clogged. At first it was a minor thing, but now, everytime I take a shower for at least 30 minutes, the tub fills with water and it takes awhile (and I mean a while) before the water completely drains. My first method (a few minutes ago) was to use a plunger, BUT all that did was bring up some.. well, let's just say nasty things back instead of unclogging it.

So, what's the most efficient (and possibly fastest and cheapest) way to unclog a tub? I really need this, so any helpful feedback will be highly appreciated.

I have a home that I purchased 3 years ago that is starting to look like the shingles need to be replaced. The home was built in 1972. Each floor is about 1500 square feet with a garage off to the side and a screen porch on the rear of the house. I've been told that the whole roof needs to be replaced every other time the shingles are replaced...is that true? Also, what is the cost of a whole roof with shingles and the cost with just shingles only?

I have a Hotpoint Side-by-Side refrigerator that doesnt seem to circulate air to keep the top portion of both the freezer and the fresh food side to good temperature. Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be? I have looked up different parts on the net...and I have the model number, but it hasn't pointed me in any direction yet.

I am thinking about switching to another home insurance company. This company not only charges the annual fee, but every time we ask for a technician, we have to pay $45. This insurance was left from the previous owner. Being a first time buyer, we didn't know better so we just took whatever the previous owner had already setup. I was looking at the things that it covers and found that some of the things we don't even have. Like the ceiling fans. We don't have ceiling fans. How do I find good home insurance? Also, I wanted to have a home inspector to come inspect the house even though we already lived in it for a few years. I want to know what's needs to be fixed and if there are new problems. Is it dumb to do that? Does anyone know an honest inpsector or contractor in LA? I have had so many bad experience and needs some good referrals. thanks

each of my two toilets are in separate bathrooms but only about 3 feet from each other. Both toilets are very slow to flush. Yesterday, one toilet almost didn't flush at all and it fills up to the top before it starts bubbling, then it goes down quite slowy. Raw sewage came into one of my showers last night. Before that, I would get standing water in my shower for a few minutes after I turned the water off. It only happened once in the other shower. Here's the kicker: all my sinks throughout the house, drain just fine. I've tried liquid plumber and sulfiric acid products but nothing seems to be working. Could this be a full septic or does it sound like a clogged toilet(s)? (or what?)

We started to sand our living room ceiling to get rid of a the texture. When we started sanding, the texture began to chip away. After the texture there is still another layer that became exposed and is is the color grey and is very hard. I have seen drywall and this does not appear to be anything like that. Could it be a cement board? Any suggestions as to how to fix it? Should i do ceiling tiles and leave it? Thanks!!

The ceiling fan light in my dads room shorted out. He said it rained sparks and everything. I took off the light and saw a small burn mark coming from it. Went to Home Depot and bought a replacement light kit for the fan. It still doesnt work and now my dad says that the hall light and out door light on the same circuit is also not working. I am no electrician but I am sincerely trying. Bought a multimeter as well and though I dont know how to work it I am getting readings from all the circuit breakers so I am guessing it is not that. Besides, none of the breakers tripped originally. I dont know what to do next? Buy a new fan or replace the switch? My dad know less about electricity than I and at 74 is grumpy as hell. Help me fix this so I dont blow a fuse in my head. Please!

I have a Frigidaire Elite electric stove with the solid burners (not the coils). The big burner has a crack in it and will not work. Is it possible to replace that burner with a regular coil burner? If I were to get another solid burner for it, it would cost me over $150!! I would much rather spend the $20 or so and get a regular coil burner.
