The industry has changed. Wet cleaning methods are a this of the past. There is a product available @ Lowe's called Capture. It is made by Miliken (a carpet manufacture). This is the recommended cleaning method set by the RCI (rug and carpet institute). Wet cleaning will damage your carpet over time by braking down the secondary backing (made of latex and marble dust) and also attract more dirt to the carpet.
If you just want a spot treatment...Folex is the best thing I have found and used. It is so good...it will take blood stains out of carpet.

We have never had a Bissell or steam cleaner vacs or anything, but have used the Rug Doctor many times until recently before we sold our house when we hired a carpet cleaning company to do it... I never thought that our carpet could ever be that clean again and it wasnt very expensive. Most of them usually run some special like 3 or 4 rooms and a hall for $60 (and most will move the furniture themselves). Since then we have them do it 2 or 3 times a year because we have 2 big dogs and 2 cats.

i take advantage of a three step technique for removing puppy stains. First, I soak the carpet each and each of ways via to the pad with an enzyme purifier that i'm getting at Petco. make beneficial that isn't the "oxy" version, it has to have enzymes in the record of aspects. I positioned a sparkling white towel on suitable of the spot and allow it take a seat in one day. the subsequent morning I take the towel off and allow it air dry. If there remains a noticeable stain, i take advantage of an aerosol purifier called "spot shot." I spray it on the stain with out soaking it. I take a sparkling white towel and press it on the purifier, and attempt to stay away from rubbing the spot too lots. that often gets the stain up, i've got used it for the two urine and diarrhea. If there remains a scent, i'm getting the puppy hair variety of arm & hammer carpet powder. I sprinkle it on the carpet and allow it take a seat for some hours with the door close. Then that is basically a remember of vacuuming thoroughly. certainly one of my dogs has a susceptible urinary sphincter, so she has some injuries a month. I finally end up spot cleansing some circumstances a month and doing the carpet powder each and every few months. sturdy success!

Getting a good rug scrubber and using it often will help - like a Bissell or Hoover carpet steam cleaner that you can use any time, and on spot stains.

however, I tore up all the carpet in my house and put down hard wood floors - 4 dogs, a cat and a different foster dog every month, it just wasn't worth it anymore.

I have a carpet cleaning machine (Like the bissell) Well worth the investment. I also have very light carpet and discovered a miracle! A local Electrolux salesman told me to use SHOUT (stain remover for laundry) I spray on and rub in a little then even tough stains come out of my carpet! Has been a life saver for me!

you can buy bissell steamer from any place and it does work. You can also buy some pretreatment liquids that would help after using the steamer. It costs around 100 dollars if you buy the small one and it is good for long term use. Its easy to use.
