My hot water has been leaking in my tub for a week now. I have called her several times but she still hasn't sent anyone to fix it. The problem is that it is running up my electric bill because of my hot water tank always going. This has happened before and it blew up my hot water tank and doubled my electric bill and they should have paid it but they didn't. Even though it was their fault. Do I have the right to sue them for the electric bill or should I just make them fix it and leave it alone?

Some cold water was spilled on the inside oven glass while it was hot causing it to crack in several places. There are no big broken pieces, just 4 or 5 long cracks in the glass. Can we still use the oven? Is it something that needs to be fixed immediately? Thanks

I have a 3 HP 15 Gallon Craftsman Air Compressor that I bought used. It is electric and supposedly "oil-free". When I plug it in and switch it on everything appears to work normally however the regulated side of the compressor will only go up to about 23-25 PSI and the tank guage will only go up to about 20-22 PSI. I have checked the drain valve and other areas where connections are made and can't find any leaks from the tank or regulator. Furthermore the motor never cuts off - it will run forever if I let it. I even let it run for 15-20 minutes straight and once the guages got up to the above readings, they stopped and the motor kept running. Is the compressor or other part of the motor just shot or am I overlooking something here?

My rental house in Las Vegas has had very frequent plumbing problems lately, yesterday Roto-rooters went out and performed a camera diagnostic, and found the old metal pipe was collapsed about 6 inches in, which was causing the water overflow. They want to re-do the plumbing in the bathroom to the toilet which he said led to the main drain. My question is how much should something like this cost, and also, should I ask to get the other bathroom upgraded to newer style plumbing as well, to avoid this in the future? Roto Rooter already charged me $500 just for the diagnostic, and I think that may be a little on the high side. Thanks

I am doing an experiment with solar heating. I am going to build a wall 16’ long and about 8’ high that sticks out about 6” from a south facing wall but remains underneath the fascia and soffit. Yesterday I installed several PVC pipes extending vertically from the ground up to the soffit and also hung a plastic drop cloth against the house that was painted flat black. I purchased about 35 triple pained windows from a salvage yard that have no frame – in other words they are perfectly flat and most measure about 30” x 30” x 7/8” of an inch. I would like to quickly assemble and disassemble the wall of windows each winter season. The windows will be caulked where they join to keep them airtight. I will have three rows of windows with a horizontal piece of material to add rigidity; the horizontal strips would ideally be 7/8” thick (the same thickness of the windows) and will be cut to a size that extends the three rows of 30” windows to the height of the soffit, 96”.

I can not find any ‘H’ shaped clips at my local hardware store that accept a 7/8” material. The closest (and frustrating) thing I found was a ‘H’ shaped clip for holding 5/8” plywood roofing together; that would have been perfect, except I need 7/8”. I would gladly purchase a stick of 7/8” ‘H’ shaped channel, and cut it into little pieces.

My main question is: what can I use for ‘H’ shaped clips to hold these 7/8” thick windows in place?

Btw, the horizontal material that I purchased actually measures about 1” thick, it is 1/8” thicker than the windows; I’d prefer this material be 16’ long for rigidity. I can still return the 1” lumber. 7/8” material of some sort might actually be better, but because I am on a tight budget I will probable stick with this material unless someone suggests something better. Again the main problem is the ‘H’ clips or finding an easy and inexpensive way to attach the windows to the lumber.

My house has a problem with dimming lights, appliances, etc. For no apparent reason, all the lights will dim, appliances (fan, microwave, etc) will slow down, etc. It is not due to a single circuit, I’ve isolated various circuits via breaker panel and the lights still dim and then brighten. Check the voltage on the main feeders during one instance and one leg was 85V, the other 155V (this was the extreme, usually its around 130/110). Flipped a couple breakers and lights returned to normal and voltage read 122/122. Next time they dimmed, turned off the same breakers but the lights stayed dim. I’ve tried turning off all 220V appliances, turning off the circuits that use aluminum, etc, but the problem still remains. Its as if the problem is with power coming into the house.

Electrical system details: Pushmatic Service Panel (160amp), 1/2 the circuits are aluminum, other half copper. 3-220V appliances / 10 15-20A 115V circuits.

Does anyone know what would cause this?

Every 6 to 8 weeks my bath tub backs up and my toilet stops flushing. The plumber who was out last time it happened said that it was probably a shifted drain tile. He said it probably wasn't broken and it was not a root problem because no evidence of either was found during the rodding. Now it is starting to happen again and I am considering the option he proposed to put a camera down and check for tile problems in the system and replace a shifted tile if necessary. Does anyone know how much this will cost in the Northeastern Illinois area, more specifically Oak Lawn, IL?

I don't know what is wrong. One of the walls in my room has a bunch of needle size holes on it. They are not holes caused by putting nails or thumbtacks to hang a picture. I don't know how they appeared. When you put your finger to touch it, the hole gets bigger because my finger went through. Can someone tell what is wrong. Does I have mold, termites or is the wall just rotting away?

I have a Carrier furnace - model # 58PAV. It is intermittently going off. I turn it off and turn it back on and it starts right back up. It was doing it maybe once a week. Lately it has been doing it several times a day.Today I saw the pilot light try to ignite and it would not ignite.. What could be the cause of this and is it something that is costly to fix?

Also on the furnace I noticed there is a card that says IGNITOR REPAIRED 2-06. I moved in to this house in March of 06. The furnace is 6 yrs old. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
