I have a water softner system in place, it helps but does not eliminate it completely. I have heard that I can add chlorine to my well to clean it up but I don't know how to do this. Can anyone help me?

THESE OTHER FOUR PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS. FILTERS DONT REMOVE SULFUR.You are correct on the chlorine. I would go to the store buy 3-4 gallons of bleach. remove the well cap and dump down pipe. hook a hose to outside faucet circulate water till you smell the chlorine in the hose. shut off. let sit for 24 hours. turn on hose and let run until smell is gone.Sulfur bacteria will return so you may have to do this a couple times a year. It is cheaper than re-drilling the well. Also before you chlorinate the well, shut off your ice makers,by pass water softener. dont be afraid to do your dishes, shower ect..with the water just dont drink it.

I would try a filter first and see if that works. Chlorine should work as well but it is a chemical.
