I have a poured basement with a couple of cracks in it. I would like to fix it myself if possible, but have no idea of how to do that.

Two seperate answers here.
If it is in the walls of your basement you're best served by contacting a licensed general contractor (they will have a license number that can be verified) come and inspect the home. Foudation cracks in walls are serious issues that may be the result of improper grading (water run off) or severe house settling. The issues are too severe to tackle them yourself.
In the case of a minor crack in a basement floor, there are a variety of good products available at a local Home Depot ("Quickcrete" for one) that can do the job. Instructions for use are easily found at a local Home Depot. It isn't a major job or issue to patch. A few simple mixing tools and a good tapers tool are all you need.

Get a putty knife and a can of Rockite hydraulic cement(expands when hardens) Just mix up the cement per manufacturers directions a push and smooth into cracks.

I agree with person who said , to determine if wall is badly damaged and unsafe first.
Repair for cracks nowadays consists of epoxy injection.
you can find two part material for a caulking type gun or even rent a more commercial type from home improvement stores (who rent tools)
