Iam trying to repair a hot tub with leaking pipes and the foam makes it difficult to track the source. If I could somehow disolve the foam, I could find and repair them all.

I'm after only serious answers here....
How do you create heat using no electricty? I'm trying to find a way to heat a room, or at least warm up part of it, without using any electricity. My boyfriend has a basement bedroom with animals in it and pretty much all his plugs are in use for his tv, computer, radio/alarm, and one little ceramic heater which is dying fast... He often tells me that his hands will turn white and today he was so cold he couldnt' stop shaking. I want to figure out how to help him heat his room a little so he's not so cold and neither are the animals (rodents).
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciate, thank you.

I installed new wheels to my sliding door, it is good and smooth now, but when I close it ,( without locking) after few seconds it opens few inches back, it does not stay in the aluminum frame, is it a wheel regulating issue ? or something else, thanks in advance for your opinions,

I live in a condo in Toronto. One of my toilets would not stop running. The superindent offered to fix it for $ 20. I bought the new flushing mechanism at Home Depot. The super came to install it. In the process he cracked the water tank. A new water tank costs as much as a new toilet. Would you buy a new toilet for about $ 200 and get a rebate from the city for $ 60. or look for a used water tank. But where would you look. Also how much would a plumber charge to install the new toilet?

How much should I expect to pay for the installation of a whole-house sediment filter which will reside in the basement. The house is under construction and the basement is not finished. Located in Western Maryland. I know the part is cheap (like $50). I want to know what a good labor rate would be for this job. Our plummer asked for $200. Seems high to me. Thoughts? Thanks.

Can anyone help? My toilet started making bubbling noises the other day and the water gurgled - this wasn't a problem. Yesterday when I washed up it did it again but this time the water started to rise in the pan! It went down eventually but rose everytime I flushed. Then I thought the problem was solved until my partner had a bath today and it happened again. I have tried unblocking my mini drain covers and plunging the toilet but have had no luck. What does this mean is blocked the toilet or the drain? If so what can I do I can't afford to be callling out a plumber, are drain rods worth a go? I'm not really a DIY person so is it straight forward? If not anyone else have any suggestions or advice on what the problem is. Thank you

Where my fiancee and I are living the porch is like twenty years old. The landlord has accused us of driving in drunk and hitting the porch. We don't drink and drive and our landlord is threatening us with hiring some carpenters to come fix the porch and the sending us the bill. Can he actually do this? The boards were already splitting and curling up on the ends. And most of the nails are rusted. The porch has been there our landlord says for twenty years and has never been a problem with it before. What do I do?

We just moved in. My bath towels smell like my crawl space. The access panel to the crawl space (the only one) is just a piece of wood.

I have to get the tension dial fixed (some how it doesn't work) and the reverse capabilities are shot. Also, I have a feeling that my needle holder (I don't know the technical name for it) is not lined up correctly.
I'm taking it in to get fixed, but want to make sure I don't get gouged. It's not that expensive of a machine (I think I paid $150 or something like that)

When I have lights on a dimmer switch, it seems that when the adjustment is not a full power, a humming noise comes from either the lights or the switch itself. Is there a way to eliminate this? Or is just simply a low quality dimmer switch?

Thanks for the help!
