In a kitchen you can have any type of light you wish. (As long as there's not a bath or shower in there!!)?

Jeepers! If you saw my kitchen, you would think we owned the electic company. I have three large chandeliers in the kitchen (it is quite large) as well as fans, high hats, undercounter and overcounter lighting.

The electrical restrictions you refer to is with plugs in the kitchen. They must be ground fault insulated or GFI connected to a circuit. Any restrictions regarding ceiling lighting would only regard ceiling height and a fan for obvious reasons.

Kitchen tables almost always have a fixture hanging at about 68" or just about or above eye level.

Hope that helps and good luck!

sure make sure that whatever you put up is supported properly/ A ceiling fan old work box with a brace that widens into the joists is a great support if your going to get a ceiling fan or a heavier light.Make sure whatrever you buy is aproved for that use.

Yeah, if you want!!! Most people hang them over kitchen tables, but anywhere in the kitchen should be fine.
