At least one cold water tap should come directly from the mains. Does the toilet flush box fill up. If so then you have a problem with the water supply. Does the loft tankl fill.

Mains turned off look under sink for stop tap or ask neighbours for whereabouts if you cant find it.
Look in road for a round lid about 9" diameter. kids might have turned it off as a prank.

is your stop-**** open? ther'll be a tap coming into thew house, sometimes in the bathroom, sometimes under the floor, but if no-one's touched it, there may just be a burst pipe outside...
