Hi all, my friend found a dead bird in her toilet. She had been away for the weekend (the house was empty) and came home to find a dead bird in the toilet. We believe that there was no way that the bird could have flown in and then into the toilet....we think the lid was down also. Is there any way that the bird could have come up from the plumbing??? Please give specifics if you know and how we could prevent this from happening again. It was quite a shock!
Thanks!

All the rest of the radiators are working well but this one. I tried bleeding it but to no avail. The tubes leading to it get very hot, but the radiator itself remains cold.

Help! I have a Dirt Devil Swivil Upright vacuum cleaner, only had it for six mos. now and bought it brand new. I noticed yesterday that it wasn't picking up at all. I pulled the hand held hose out to check and sure enough there is no suction what so ever! I checked to make sure there were no clogs or anything that had stopped it up, I also checked the belt and the bag was just replaced a couple days ago, it was practically empty. It sounds fine, there is just no suction. Any ideas? I just can't get a new vacuum right now. Thanks in advance!

What is the best way to clean moss (and other green growths) off asphalt (tarmac) drives?
Other than sweeping, scraping and high-pressure water jets is there a suitable chemical method?
How can it be prevented from returning?

Ok listen, my pump to drain water out of my house, burned out, (damned rain). I've tried bailing it with buckets, and using my shop vac, both worked effectivly untill the shop vac acted weird and didnt want to suck any more water, and the water was almost all gone, now its back almost to the top. Bailing the water stopped working, and the pump i can say is officialy burnt out. Its 3:25 AM and this is really pissing me off, any suguestions?

I just bought a new home, the realtor said as long as the furnace is working don't worry about it. But 1965 is pretty darn old. How do I know if its time to replace it? Also, I always seem to notice a very faint gas smell just around the furnace itself - the gas company just serviced the furnace so i imagine its okay but it has be a bit worried as the furnace is near my kid's bedrooms. thoughts?

The bulbs are 6 watt and I want to know how many I can run off a deep cycle battery (100a/h). I only have a 5.5 watt solar panel to charge battery so do not want to drain it too fast.

i found a full length glass storm door (with brass on bottom) for my moms house at a garage sale. $5! fits perfectly...EXCEPT ...when i hung the door and side trim piece the door now is uneven with the upper trim piece. my door is level--the house isn't! (go figure) you can see daylight between the door and upper frame when you close the door. I had gotten larger screws from the hardware store for the hinge side trim piece (there werent any with it) not only to have the screws but hoping to have additional strength. now after having screwed the piece in, it hasn't closed that gap at all!! ive thought about shimming the lower part of the high side trim piece: behind the frame. help!

I had a home inspection done and wanted to know what exactly the following mean to me as a homeowner-i.e. is my home ok?- I have some vertical cracks not more than 1/4 inch on two walls, efforescence on walls, step cracks near window sills and a crack on floor. The inspector says its ok, but I just have this gut feeling (not good), you know? I want to know if there is any way to know if this will become an issue later also. Thanks!

My furnace is gas.LP to be exact. When I turn up the thermostat, the inducer blower comes on, the ignitor gets warm and glows....but the main burner does not ignite.Of course the ignitor goes through this 3 times then shuts down. The diagnostic indicator flashes just once, pauses and then once....over and over.Could this be a problem with the outlet pressure? If so what can I do to check it?I think I can remove the small clear hose that connects the inducer blower to the outlet pressure thing....and blow in it slightly to hear if it pops.I would remove it from the inducer blower...correct?
Any advice would be appreciated.

All the water in my toilet drains from the bowl and seems to be leaking out the bottom of the drain. In addition, when flushed, the toilet does not suck anything up (ie the TP remains in the bowl), but the bowl fills (only to rapidly drain again). Someone told me that water leaking from the base means it needs a new was ring. Yet another person said that even if the wax ring is broken, that should not affect the toilet's "flushing ability" or cause water to drain from the bowl aand the fact that the toilet is flushing the paper and that the bowl is draining has nothing to do wih the wax ring. This same thing happened a few months ago (first noticed b/c the water started leaking from the base and then noticed the bowl wouldn't hold water) and after letting the toilet sit with no use for several weeks it appeared to fixed itself and worked fine--no leaking at the base and no water draining from the bowl. NOw the problem is back What the heck is going on????? Help!!
