Ok listen, my pump to drain water out of my house, burned out, (damned rain). I've tried bailing it with buckets, and using my shop vac, both worked effectivly untill the shop vac acted weird and didnt want to suck any more water, and the water was almost all gone, now its back almost to the top. Bailing the water stopped working, and the pump i can say is officialy burnt out. Its 3:25 AM and this is really pissing me off, any suguestions?

<>Do you have a long hose? Are you on a hill? Can you get one end of the hose lower than the water level? If yes, you can siphon the water out of your basement. Place one end of the hose in the water, drag the other outside to a point lower than the water level, give a big suck on the end, and let 'er drain!

Not much you can do now at 3;25 AM, too bad you're not in NY, there's always something open. I suggest a new pump when stores open, does you're pump have a "Float switch" on it to automatically turn it off when the water is gone ? If not, thats why it burned out, when pumps go dry, they get hot, and burn out, Get two pumps, hook them up to "Float switches" so they turn on automatically, and shut down on "AUTO" when they pump dry, in a situation like your's you need "back up", or atleast put in 1 auto. pump, and get another pump (Manual) for "back up", or get the one you have fixed for back up, I would run 2 pumps on auto. so that I did'nt have to think about it much. Slap the top of the "Wet Vac", the ball that closes the vacuum that prevents water from enetering the electric motor, sometimes gets stuck when you empty out the water, a sharp "Rap" to the top of the motor with your hand, usually dislogges it, you will here it rattle when loose, then the vac is OK again.

I assume you're talking about you're septic system and the alarm went off,
as long as it doesn't back up into your house you're OK try not flushing
toilets etc. and get on the phone to your plumber first thing in the morning.
You could rent a portable sump pump or buy one from somewhere, but be
careful where you drain it. Okay so when you get your pump fixed cost about
$700 be sure and buy a sump pump Ponstar makes a good one even if
you never think you'll need it.
