My contractor installed the windows before the roof was complete and now we are up for 24 hours of rain. My pella windows are pine clad and I am concerned that rain will stain the wood and will show up during staining and sealing process. What can I do to make sure this does not happen? Should I contact Pella to make sure that my butt is covered? We have 35 windows, all are wood clad interior/metal clad exterior. I have taken pictures all along the way and so everything is and will be documented in pictures. Here is a link to the pictures that will show the kind and type of pella windows we have installed. http://www.studio57designs.com/gallery/index.php Any help would be appreciated. I dont want have to go thru the process of replacing windows, nor will I accept stained window frames. Thanks for any helpful solutions.

There is a pungent aroma in the bedroom since we revamped the room where we laid the laminate. And wonder if the new flooring could be the cause of the smell. No one can use this room due to the odour.

We have eliminated any possible causes, from paint to furniture and none of these appear to be the culprit

Could it be coming from the loft space even though there is no smell there. We did have to loft insulated about a year ago. It is an old granite house with what appears to be a sound Scottish slate roof (we have it checked out regularly)

Apart from resorting to calling out the environmental, we are at a loss as to the cause of this smell which has a chemical edge to it.

I would appreciate any ideas or comments as I have family coming to stay very shortly and shall be short of one bedroom if we don't resolve this problem. Thanking you in anticipation!

These Hornets/Wasp only appear in the day time and only in the living room/dining room when it is sunny and the blinds are open. It is mid November in Kansas City and temperatures are in the 40's and 50's during day and low 40's to high 30's at night. I have not had the windows open in weeks, how are they getting in the house or is there a nest in the house? I have sprayed insect killer multiple times and searched for a nest and have not found one. What can I do?

Our plumber suggested putting in a sewer line pump in the basement floor to force sewage through a low spot in our residential line to reach the main line. The cost is about $6000 less than digging up the yard & he assures us it will do the job. Does anyone have experience with this kind of pump...effective, reliable, etc.?

I'd like to replace all the smoke detectors (which are electric) to all battery operatored models. I know how to put the battery one up, but what do I do with the wires from the previous detectors? Is there something that I can buy at Home Depot to block the electrical current or can I just leave the wires as is and place the other one over top the wires?

Serious answers only please.

My furnace was working fine yesterday, but right now the pilot light is out and it won't kick on at all. I have tried to light the pilot, and I know I'm doing it right (holding the button in for a minute and a half, etc.), but I don't even hear the gas coming out of the line. I have checked the electric breaker, and all is well. Any suggestions on what it might be....I have kids and it's starting to get cold...I need some serious answers please...Thank you,

I want to build a concrete patio and have a large pine tree. Can I cut the roots 2' to 3' away from the tree? I can see 3 big roots attached to the trunk and a big web of roots about 4' to 5' from the trunk. Woulf that jeoperdize the stability of the tree (30' high) or it has enough roots undergrouond to hold it still. I live in Souther California and the only winds we get is Santa Ana winds once a year.

I live in an apt complex and have had maintenance look at it several times, but it keeps doing the same thing. When the dishwasher is on, water comes up into the sink and it often smells pretty bad. Is something clogged, or what? I run the garbage disposal regularly, but it could be that, I guess. Would Draino help? It seems like I have tried that before. I'll accept any reasonable suggestions.

I have refinished an old Typewriter Desk. I'm using it as a computer desk. I have already stained it and now am ready to put polyurethane on it to protect it. In the past I have done this and had trouble with the polyurethane having bubbles in it. How should I apply polyurethane so I will not have that problem again. Thanks.
