Run the 14/2 wire from the 15A. breaker in the breaker box to the fixture. Run a 14/2 wire from the fixture to the wall switch and connect each of the two wires to a screw on the switch. At the fixture connect the black wire from the breaker to the white wire going to the wall switch. Connect the white wire from the breaker box to the white wire of the fixture and the black wire from the wall switch to the black wire of the fixture.

If it is easier or you will use less wire you can run the feed line directly to the wall switch and connect both white wires together and one black on each screw of the wall switch. At the fixture simply black to black and white to white.

New construction or remodeling:
After wire is roughed from panel to the ceiling box, Run wire from ceiling box to switch box.

Strip the romex back far enough so it is easy to work with the wires: Usually 6 inches.

Connect the black wire in the wire going to the switch to the black wire (Hot leg) coming from the fuse panel. (circuit breaker panel) using wire nuts. (NOTE: If this is not the last fixture on the circuit, Tie the black wire coming from the fuse panel; The black wire going to the light switch, and the wires going to the other cirsuits all together using a wire nut. NOTE: When stripping back for the wire nut strip enough to easily get all wires screwed together, then twist the wires together in a clockwise direction, then screw the wire nut onto the wires. If any wire wire shows use some black electrical tape and tape around the wires and wire nut. This also holds true if the box is going to be in a wet location.

Tie the ground wire (bare wire) in the wire going to the switch box to the ground wire coming from the fuse panel. Leave enough spare to be able to connect the ground wire to the grounding screw on the box. Connect the ground wire to the grounding screw on the box.

HOOKING UP THE SWITCH:

Strip the romex back far enough to easily work; with usually approximately six inches.

Strip the white and black wires back wire them to the terminals
If the terminal connector is a push in terminal follow the stripping length guide on the switch. It not strip enough back to make a good hook around the terminal screws.

Connect the black wire to the top terminal on the light switch:

Identify the white wire a being a current carrying switched conductor by using red tape on it.

Connect the ground wire to the ground terminal on the light switch or the ground terminal on the box. If you are using a plastic box and the switch does not have a terminal for the ground wire Hook the ground wire around the bottom screw holding the light switch to the box.

Use the two screws on the light switch and screw the light switch into the box.

But the cover on the light switch.

HOOKING UP THE LIGHT FIXTURE:

Strip the white wire coming from the light switch back far enough to make a good hook.
Tape around the white wire coming from the light switch with red tape to identify as a switched hot wire {not a neutral wire}

Connect the white wire coming from the light switch to the center terminal on the light fixture. It will be gold or identified as being the hot terminal in some way check the hook up instructions that comes with the light fixture.

Make a short jumper out of a piece of the white wire. Using wire nuts connect one end of the jumper to the white wire coming from the fuse panel. If this is not the last fixture in the circuit be sure to get all the white wires going to the other circuits wired together with the white wire coming from the fuse panel and the short jumper from the light fixture.

The other end of the short white jumper connect to silver terminal on the light fixture. This is your neutral don't tape it.

At the fuse panel. connect the black wire to the circuit breaker. Connect the white wire to the neutral teminal bus. Connect the ground wire to the gournding bus. IN A LOT OF NEWER PANELS THE NEUTRAL AND GROUNDING BUS ARE THE SAME BUS.

You feed to the switch first to connect the black (hot) wires to the switch then continue on to the fixture.
