Simonton seems to be pretty energy-efficient, and is guaranteed for life. But we have concerns because none of our close friends have vinyl windows yet, and some reviews of vinyls that we heard of have not been good.

I recently replaced the tub spout in our master bath. The spout works fine until the plunger thing is pulled to direct the water to the shower head. When the shower head is on, the connection to the spout seems to leak a little (Were the tub spout pipe connects to the tub spout fixture - not inside the wall). I'm thinking that I need some tephlon tape at the connection. I want to remove the spout but it's on pretty tight and I'm afraid that I may damage or loosen the connection inside the wall. How is the tub spout pipe that comes out of the wall connected inside the wall? Can that connection be loosened when you untighten the tub spout piece? I just want to be sure I don't get a leak inside the wall. My house is newer construction and was built 4 years ago.

Our bath leaks water through the ceiling of the room below when the water reaches the overflow level. Is this just a simple plumbing problem or is it going to cost a fortune to fix?

The stove that came with my recently purchased house won't work. The broiler and oven work just fine. But none of the burners work. There is no clicking sound, no gas smells, nothing.

Our upvc double glazed windows are about 12 years old.
The frames have gone a bit discoloured, can somebody recommend a good quality cleaner for the plastic frames that will restore them to looking "white" and clean again.

Nothing abrasive or chemically dangerous (pets & young children to care for)

I am a plumbing ingenue - could be taken advantage of by dodgy plumbers. They are selling me underfloor heating for my new flat- and are going on about Wet and Dry systems . Any plumbers or heating engineers out there who know the difference and what the pros and cons are ?

a few months ago, my bedroom had 1 drop of water from the roof. It only happened once. The bedroom is located next to the front porch that was coverd badly from a bad deceitful contractor.
Now this roof guy said I need to change the whole thing and that the city doesn't allow putting a 3rd layer of roof anymore. Is it true? He said he would put 30years shingles on. Lost hope of contractors... How many types of shingles are there? Do i have to change the whole roof. He wants to charge $3000. Thanks

We are purchasing an LG washer and dryer that are front-loading machines. I have had regular Whirlpool machines for 8 years with no problems. Since my new machines have more bells and whistles, I was wondering if a warranty would be worth it. We have a choice of a 3 year warranty for $300 or a 4 year for $378. The manufacturer's warranty is good for one year. So should I spend the money to get an additional warranty, or hope the maintenance holds up?

When I turn off the heat on the thermostat my shower becomes normal again (can control the heat setting). I even had my landlord turn down the water heater and the problem still continues.

I understand that that means there is air in the pipes but how do i go about getting rid of that air. I have well water with a pressure tank.

2006-10-16 06:27:30 · 2 answers · asked by Anonymous

everything acts normal, except that there isn't enough water in the bowl. it fills like it should, but after the water quits running in the tank, then the water level slowly goes down.
