Garden & Landscape - November 2006

For the past year my codium has been producing unusual growth on 1/3 of it branches. The stem gets about 5cm X 1cm wide. the tips have multiple but dwarfed nodes and leaf buds all over them.

I noticed some small brown insects that resemble ticks(like dog or cattle ticks but smaller) attached to the plant.

I have never seen this insect before. I know a lot about scales, mealy bugs and other plant bests but wouldn't have a clue what these are

Looking mostly for things that will bloom in the spring. Have severe alergy issues with bees, so need to have something that won't attract bees.

I buy plants according to the environment and they still die. What are good, hearty plants/flowers/bushes that will survive in full sun areas with good water supply?

My husband's family tree is a cherry tree in the front yard of his parents' former home. We have tried gathering the pits and planting them but to no avail. If we can not figure out how to grow it from the pits we are hoping a cutting will be possible. We have permission from the current homowners to try to get what we need in order to be able to take this piece of his childhood and bring it to our home. How can we do this?? What is the best way?? Thanks....

I'm trying to stop a blackberry invasion. It seems to me that Round Up used to be instant death for any plant it touched. Lately, those gallon-size, pump and squirt containers just seem to brown the leaves a little, then they spring back.

If you put lime and fertilizer on your lawn, spread half of it as you walk north to south, the other half as you walk east to west.
