We have had record highs in the south and my tomato plants are thin and not producing as much as I thought they would. I live in SC.

How far down did you go ( I read to "prune" no further than the width of the thumb) and did you harm the tree? How long did the cutting last? It seems to me the flowers would be fragile since I have them all over my yard!

They are inter-planted with roses and okra and marigolds. The exposure is sunny south side of house. The inground sprinkler waters for 10 minutes every other day. I water in between if no rain. The ground is sandy loam and has excellent drainage.

I have found a pile of black shiny eggs about 1/8 inch long in the garden grass, there could be 1000 of them. There are some ants around, picking them up. I though ants eggs were white so what are these eggs?
