reseed it and add powdered red pepper to the spot. cats hate the stuff. I love cats but my neighbor has 14. my flower bed was dying and it worked for me . good luck.
It just makes them go away. it does no permanent damage, just keeps them away.

Patches of brown in a green lawn suggests you have a problem with lawn grubs. Any gardening store should sell a specific treatment for lawn grub. Or you could try the the old meathod of throwing a wet hessian sack over the affected area causing the lawn grub to come to the surface.Then squash it.
By the way, cat pee is a great fertilizer if you water it in well.

get a statue of a dog large enough to cover the spot- it covers the brown and will scare the cat away
or put a green carpet over the spot, my friend did that to his lawn and i couldnt tell

look under the brown patch and see if there is a rock 3-4 inches down in the dirt. if so, remove it.
