Very carefully. You don't want to remove the shade from the squashes but the plant doesn't need to feed all those leaves.
As an aside: I didn't think I was going to get any squash at all but today it came through and I am delighted. Every one of the little squash got to about 2 or 3 inches long and died off until a day or two ago. Those little 3 inchers suddenly grew and I'm so excited!

Yes, you can. Don't trim the blossoms. That's where the vegetables come from.
