Spray the leaves of the blackberries with RoundUP. Do not get RoundUP on the leaves of your hedge. Use a piece of cardboard to protect the "good stuff" from your spray.
I removed an entire bed of blackberries with RoundUP.

get some diluted round up and mix with a surfactant like washing up liquid and place in a empty deodorant roller ball type container, go over all the leaves of the brambles taking care not to spill on the hedge plant. good luck. ps the washing liquid makes the round up stick better to the plant. you will probably need many applications.

Use either roundup or weed-b-gone. Here's the trick...
Put the undiluted concentrate into a disposable cup and with a disposable paintbrush paint the leaves! Seal the cup and brush in a plastic bag for either future use or trash day.
I cleared my land of blackberries and bramble roses that way.

have you people NO expeience of Blackberry bushes??? Thery are the plant from hell, the torns are huge and the plant grows and grows - it's nuts I tell ya.
Round-up is the trick, cut the foliage down to the ground and on what's left spray round-up (don't get it on your hedge) you may have to do this several times

If you want to get rid of them cut them down to where they are growing from as short as possible and pull out the branches iron gloves are useful (good strong ones will do)
when they reshoot apply roundup to the shoots you may have to do this a few times but they will die

trick of my grandads was too cut down to the lowest point an put a piece of copper pipe over root stem and hammer into ground, a few weeks later no more growth. it worked for me on most unwanted brambles and even roots of a lilac, hope this helps.

I agree with Treehugger...they are horrible plants to deal with. My yard has them coming up everywhere. And even roundup only kills them for part of a season before they start coming up again. I just have to snip them every month wherever I see their nasty little faces.

Do you want to grow Raspberries instead of Blackberries? Maybe you could grow both?
